Oblivion, Xbox or PC?

I want to give Oblivion ago and I am wondering what version to get, I assume PC is the way to go, it's just I have an Xbox 360 and never use it, so I am tempted to go with that version just to get some use out of the console.

How do the downloads work on the PC? Are they free, such as the things you have to pay for on the Xbox, horse armor and so on.

On a more useful note I'd think about what you hook the PC and XBOX up to. If you hook the PC up to a nice LCD and the XBOX up to an old TV, I'd go for the PC version since I never liked the looks of anything at 240 scan lines. Of course if you have a nice HDTV I have no idea. I guess it just comes down to which system you like the feel of better (controlers and such). Anyways enjoy the game, and the awsome graphics (at least according to the screen shots).

Very good advice indeed No doubt I will use the Xbox more in the future, PGR3 is just not as good as I thought it would have been

Anyways, I play my Xbox on my PC monitor, or when the mrs is out/not watching the telly I use the HDTV.

horse armour etc are marginally cheaper on pc, but not free

the benefit of the pc version will be all the mods that you can download from the community, whereas if you got the xbox version you will only be able to get the official mods. your system also looks good enough to play the pc version on prety high specs, so that would be my choice.

PC gets my vote.

The controls of the game are much easier on the PC with keyboard and mouse rather than if you were using the analogue sticks on the xbox controller.

Yeah agreed. I've played my mates game on my 360 and I own it on PC. Plays easier on PC. But thats just imo

PC...its a better machine for this type of game - despite how consolerised the interface is.

You get better graphics (higher res textures you can install), better controls (kb+mouse always beats a gamepad for FPS or RPG games), easier to customise etc - and has been mentioned the inevitable free mods

Why not try and sell your 360 while it's still worth something to someone Could use the cash to upgrade your pc (new vid card maybe?) or simply to buy a differnt console that you will get more use out of (that is one which has plenty of platform unique titles - gcube, ds, even a ps2)

As a hexus user the PC version is probably worth getting.

The exception is that you need to be quite PC savy to get the most out of it - there are so many posts on the official forums from people who don't know enough about PCs and are blaming the game for many things which are infact their own computers fault. It's not bug free - but people have some seriously wrong expectations of the capability of their own hardware, in defiance of what Bethsoft have said publically.

I have both the PC and 360 version. I prefer the 360 version.

Although I am possibly in a minority, I prefer to lie back on my sofa with my wireless controller than messing about with keyboard and mouse.

Hmm I'm not too sure. My 360 version loading times are sometimes ridiculous, but I haven't bought the game on PC so not sure of any problems.

I've played it on a mates with that trick being used and its still very noticible compared to playing on a PC. Mind you I am playing using a RAID 0 array as the Gaming drive

I have to say I was amazed at how quick the loading was with Oblivion like super quick, I'm running a single 250GB Deskstar, although I thought it was mainly due to good software design aswell?
