Bf1942 - "failed To Connect"

Ahh!

Please help! Just got BF1942 off play.com for a fiver, but whenever I try and connect to anyones server, the bar the bottom moves about 2cms and then says "FAILED TO CONNECT".

I've tried turning off my firewall, but still no success...

Any advice much appreciated!

May require a port forwarded, if not have you tried reseting your router? seems to solve many a problem with steam, so may help

Yup tried that, and my laptop is in the routers DMZ!!

Do I need to download the latest patch by any chance? Downloading now, dunno if it will fix it or not though...

Yea try it, though I wouldn't recommend leaving your laptop in your routers DMZ tho...

Yeah I should really sort it, it's because my 360 connects through live through ICS, so putting my laptop in the DMZ also sorts out the xbox.

Do I need to install any patchs before 1.6 does anyone know?

Right well, I installed the patch, now when I connect it says "WRONG VERSION - DO YOU WANT TO UPDATE NOW" So i click yes and nothing happens!!

I just bought that game from play too.

I'm on my way out now but I should have it installed over the weekend.

I'll let you know if I have the same issues with it.

Got it working in the end chris...

What you need to do is - install patch 1.6, then there's an official patch on the BF1942 website to fix some glitch that people were taking advantage of - after that it works!

1.6 is a big patch so you might wanna get a head start on downloading

Tis not bad, still can't get the hang of flying planes!

Servers all seem to be good, only found one with lag...although it is sometimes hard to find out what you're meant to be doing on some conquest maps...just appears like team deathmatch.

Haven't seen a plane as yet though as only played against the computer for about 30 minutes.
