    Deus Ex 2

Deus Ex was undeniably one of the greatest games of all time. And still is imo. With the second one just around the corner (for americans, Europe has a feb2004 release) I personally cant wait!

IGN has a pretty decent preview on it here.

Anyone know why its delayed for us when clearly the game is finished?

They're pleading "localisation" - again. Yes, it's bull. Yes it sucks. Yes it's Eidos. Frankly I've been waiting for this for ages, and I'm pretty hacked off that it's not at least released in English speaking countries (where there ARE no localisation issues) simultaneously with the US.

The first one was great, first time i saw game characters blinking, little and silly i know but a step forward for detail.

I especially loved the alternate ending aspect.

    Should be great

The thing is, if they go through with releasing it in the US so far ahead of Europe, it's not going to anything to help reduce piracy is it? If people want it, they will be able to get it.

there are a number of reasons for region-based delays - for example, european games usually require a fair amount of regionalisation, translation, etc. considering the size of one european country, it's not viable to release one country at a time, so the entire europe region needs to be ready at once

There really shouldnt be a delay, exp
for big titles, there have been worldwide
sameday releases in the past...enter the matrix
    springs to mind.

Tbh they are making a mistake by
making the rel date over the usual 2 weeks
in euroland after its been rel in usa, a lot of people will warez this
from the uk, purely because of the long difference
in rel times between usa and euroland.

People can handle w8ting 1 or 2 weeks,
but 2 months, with xmas in between

The Deus ex 2 demo is available for download. But you guys probably know that already. I was a bit hacked off. The site I downloaded from didn't mention the little thing of a fully compatible dx9 gfx card. So I wasted 2hours downloading it.

This is possibly the biggest dissapointment in years (well since George Lucas jumped the shark).

And I am getting a proper card soon too. Just not before chrimbo. Expect january sales to tempt me.

Deus Ex IS the best game I ever played.

I wouldn't get your hopes up. I have a Radeon 9700 Pro and an AXP 2ghz and it runs like crap most of the time, so I don't know what the developers are playing at, but the engine is utter rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishe.

So rather than just releasing them all at the same time, it is ok to release it early in the US but not the UK? Yeah, sure.....

It runs like crap ? Is that it runs o.k. but not like 70+fps ? Because that is the card I was going for. And my Athlon is currently running at 2ghz.

wtf a next gen game for next gen pc's !
*Expects to play it when Athlon 64's are dirt cheap*

No, when I talk about framerates, I am realistic, when I say crap, I mean crap, i.e. 10-20fps Outdoors, and about 10-50fps indoors. So basically indoors is playable most the time, but there are some times inside when it drops RIGHT down.

What drivers are you using on your 9600? I have a feeling it may be a CAT 3.9 issue, as I had all dodgy triangles on things until I moved up closer, which is appently a problem another game has that the Patch for the 3.9 cats fix. So it may fix Deus Ex 2 in the process as the issue sounds identical.
