Is there still life in the current Generation of consoles

    Guys and Girls

Like your opinion on this subject with the next gen starting to appear again is there still life in the PS2 and Xbox?.

I bloody well hope so, the amount of them that there are out there

There certainly will be for the foreseeable future - for a start, the games manufacturers would be stupid to stop writing games for the majority of the market.

there's life, in the sense that you can buy one & have access to loads of great games on the shop shelves

but all the "big" studios have shifted their focus

I wouldn't worry about the supply of games running out soon, but i wouldn't expect many of the really 'famous' game titles reappearing on the current gen.

I've been enjoying an xbox renaissance as of late - been hoovering up xbox games from Amazon at just silly prices. Still life in the last-gen consoles but as someone above said, dont expect any of the massive titles to make an appearance.

I heard somewhere (gamespot I think) that sony were considering releasing some sort of controller for the ps2 to allow it to compete with the wii

    that would be sensible actually.

remarket the PS2 as a kiddies console to compete with the wii, seeing as both the wii and the ps2 have very much last gen specs now

Of course all 3 current gen consoles have life in em (original poster forgot the gamecube )

They still have the same games that enticed you to them previously, and there will still be games produced for them for years to come Hell the dreamcast had new games being released up until 2004, and it stopped being produced in 2001..

I can't speak for the PS2 or Xbox but surely there will be some nice games coming out for them in the next year or two - after all developers are not going to stop part-complete games just for the PS3 or XB360, and I know the gamecube has plenty of new titles on the way - not least the new Zelda (being released for GC and Wii)

There are still plenty of gamers out there that know its the games that matter, not the graphics - so I wouldn't worry about current consoles being obsolete just yet.

I still play on my Xbox a fair bit. I tend to go for the racing games on it and have also been playing through Riddick (to compare with the PC version ! ) and as of late Call of Cthulhu which is awesome.

I use my PC for the next gen type stuff like Oblivion and Guild Wars but Xbox is great for everything else I personally feel.

i still use my PS1 and mega drive .

and with the amount of emulators out there for consoles as old as the NES, there will ALWAYS be life in the current gen of consoles IMO. just in ten years time people will be playing FFVII on an emulator on a 200 core processor computer
