    Hidden - beta 4 released!

    Available from www.hidden-source.com

Few bug fixes, the addition of a weighting system to work out who gets to be the hidden, and some serious tinkering to the bluring when bombs go off, and the 303 - it's actually useful now!

    Thanks lowe, downloading now.

I have been playing Beta 3 a lot lately, it's becoming a really good game in it's own right.

hehe, I gave it a quick go, its tough thats for sure! At one point I thought I was shooting at Hidden, infact, it was just hot air coming from a vent... woops

I do like though, the panic you get when you see a guy next to you explode is cool

The maps are really good, and the graphics have improved a lot since the original beta.

I find it best not to have the laser sight "on" as it gives away your position to the stark raving homicidal murderous hidden lol

And when i become the hidden i make sure i have "pounce" mapped to one of my mouse buttons. very useful..

    Hehe, common error

Yup, pounce should be mapped to a mouse button since when you're the hidden you live by the pounce. The laser sights aren't too bad. If you're standing still camping an area you can always turn them off...

The new 303 is mental - smack the hidden with a few rounds and they can't see a thing - easy target then

I just installed it... 2 things... in the tutorial it seemed extremly choppy... not lagging, but just generally walking along feels like you are been dragged back... with the hidden thing and with the guy.

Other thing... tried to connect to an online server and it took 5 minutes to connect, once I did it disconnected :| (think that's a firewall issue though, will sort that out later)

    Anyone else experienced choppy-ness?

getting the hang of this now Im much better as IRIS though thats for sure.

You've really gotta lay a certain amount of trust in just how invisible you are. Nothing like have two people walk passed you just fro you to kill the second and then scamper

Should be as smooth as a babies backside since it's source based. My aging XP1800 and Rad9700pro play it flawlessly at 1024 with everything turned up.

Movement, or rather the lack of it - is the key sometimes. The human eye detects movement quicker than anything else even if it's translucent. So, every now and then as IRIS pause to take in the surroundings and look for movement. Be sure to check your 6 too, since that's where the Hidden will be looking to attack. Saying that though watch out for sneaky Hiddens that attack you from your 12, only to duck and attack, to the shots you fire go over their head!

b4 has changed things a little and personally I find it much easier to see the Hidden now. I can happily pick him out even when stood still now and other more experienced players will do the same - so don't rely on being able to stand still too much Raz
