Deus Ex pc Demo out tommorow!

The only catch is, you have to be a Fileplanet Subscriber,
    As it,s exclusive to them

    http://www.fileplanet.com/promotions/the_war/

    Having said that,
I,m sure within an hour of it being rel
on there, it will spread onto other demo
sites and your fav p2p app

Really looking forward too this one

sadly to say the demo does not look good, controls are too sensitive laggy when its reduced

uses dx8.1 and the graphics are good but performance aint up to par

seems as if though its another halo scene on our hands

    |edit:| more linkys here

Yeah the controls are too sensistive,
but all the options are tweakable.......http://www.ionstorm.com/forum/viewth...12110&id=34880

If you follow the instructions there,
and edit both your user.ini and default.ini
accordingly It does make a big difference
    to how the demo plays.

I set the mouse sens to 10 in game and it seems fine. Seems to run a bit slow on my machine though (Radeon 9700 Pro) which is worrying.

I played it late last night with default settings,
    I,m also using 9700pro xp2200 512megpc3200
    at 1028 4xaa 4xaf
It,s runs quite well on my pc.

    I dont know why,
but they havnt enabled alot of setting within
    the ini....for instance

    VolumetricLighting
    DetailTextures
    UseTrilinear
    are all set too false.

and things like the hud in the ini itslef it says
this FOV is for the HUD only. On the XBox, we need to keep all HUD elements within 10% of the edges.
;FOV__d=68 ;68 is good for the PC version
    FOV__d=61

So the fov for the hud should be set to 68 for the pc,
yet the default is 61...go figure....a few other tweaks
I,ve enabled...just ran the demo again and it looks
    and feels much nicer

But Ion Storm should have taken a bit more
care with the demo, coz alot of peeps arent
going to tweak the ini...and why should they have too!

Just like the first game I lasted only 5 mins on the demo for this one.

Admitidly I didn't bother reading any of the help or listen to the voices. Just wandered around in the near pitch black found two skunk things and zapped em, then blew up the repair robot by continuos prodding with the knife. Then realised I was lost and exited.

I remember the first game getting a lot of good press, what am I missing about these games ?

With a game like deus ex, you need a bit of paitence and you cant really expect to zoom through the game instantly, which what I loved about the first one.
Just give it some time tbh, also watching the cut scenes is a big help. V cool game.

Hope the second will live up to the first, wasnt too inpressed by the demo or the hud, but im still hopefull.

Completed it earlier today. I like it just like the first. Though it seems to run a little slow on my machine (1.9ghz AXP, Radeon 9700 Pro...) no idea why.

Deus Ex isn't a FPS, it's a game where you are expected to think and interact, not just shoot everything in sight, which, seems to be too much for some people....
