Looking for a helicopter flight sim - any help??

I'm looking for a helicopter flight sim and hoping some of you maybe able to guide me in the right direction.
I really like the orginal Longbow when it came out - those of you who are old enough to remember it.
I'm looking for the most realistic military sim I can find.
Any help would be most appreciated
    Many thanks

Gunship on the C64 was a classic among helicopter sims, but the whole sim genre isnt what it once was, with the flight sim arena dominated by Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 and very little else due to the fact that flight sims have become increasingly niche products in the age of action games. Of the modern day chopper sims Comanche 4 is the only one that springs to mind if i'm honest and that came out back in '02.

Depends what you want it for, but you can pilot helicopters on X-Plane (www.x-plane.com) - it's very accurate (you can find a model on the net of the copter you want), but not especially military..

The next release of the Lock-On series- Black Shark will include a flyable KA52... though you have to have the previous incarnations of the game (Lock-ON + Flaming Cliffs) to be able to fly it.

not if you patched it etc. but it also depends on what you are looking for in a sim.
Do you want a systems sim in which case Longbow 2 is still probably the benchmark whilst Gunship! is probably the better in terms of the experience.
& then there are Enemy Engaged Apache Havoc & Commanche Hokum with community mods since the source code was released.
& not forgetting the Search & Rescue/Vietnam Medivac series either.

I loved helicopters in Operation Flashpoint - the feeling of scale was just right. And because you played the game on foot too you had the level of detail at ground level you probably don't get on other chopper sims. I suppose the instruments and such arn't that realistic, but the feeling of it when you flew it was awesome. Flying low following some road almost touching the trees - such a rush. New flashpoint should be out soon iirc. Oh and you need a joystic with rudder control to enjoy it fully.
