    DS lite Thumb stick?

Today I finally managed to get my hands on a shiny black DS Got it along with Mario64DS, and loving it so far..pretty much not stopped playing with it since I got back from work.

Loving the DS itself, mario is great apart from them forcing you to use yoshi at the start and at other points in the game (), and i'm currently using the 'normal' d-pad controls...but..

One thing the DSlite doesn't come with is that thumb stick thing that came with the old DSPhats - and it could be really useful with this game (and metroid when i get it i expect)..

So, does anyone know anywhere cheap to get them in the UK? Or have one they don't use and would be willing to part with it =)

I also don't quite get why nintendo didn't include one..as surely its a must for any FPS games etc..

yoshi just isn't mario Not as nimble or quick, annoying sounds and cant wall jump..

noTHINGface - no the thumbstick/pad is like a mini-stylus that came with the old DS's - makes it easier to control games like metroid, mario etc

I've loved Yoshi since Yoshi's Island on the SNES. Mario is cool, and a classic, but Yoshi is soo cute ^_^

And yes I was also wondering about the thumbstick pad thingo as well, but I think you could just strap a little bit-o-plastic to your thumb. But an official or sub-ficial (if that is a real word ) would be good. But that doesn't really help you does it...*shrugs* oh well

Yep as said before it's a thumb strap/wrist strap.

Nintendo do replacement parts for the DS and it will only cost you 2 EUR (don't know if that includes p&p). You have to contact them to order one, more details here.

thanks for the link mate, will ring them tomorrow

Thats really cheap - and only 11eur for a new battery...crazy. Sometimes you forget that nintendo are one of the few companies that actually seem to care about their consumers

The stylus works far better than teh thumb pad IMO, you get a lot more precision and no drawbacks at all. I really don't see any point in the thumb pad at all.

the thing is - unless your left handed, how can you play fast action games with the stylus?

You cant use it for moving/looking, as then you cant use the 4 action buttons to do anything, and you cant use one of the shoulder pads..hence the thumb pad will be useful In any case, for 2eur i'll get one to see..

Just want to make sure that I get this right - the wrist strap from Nintendo's site is this thumb pad thing? Think I'll pick one up myself.

I can use both shoulder buttons fine and you lose 4 buttons anyway when you use the thumb pad.

Edit: also bear in mind that they scratch the screen very easily.

why do you lose 4 buttons? You just replace the d-pad with the touch screen =) And if you can use both shoulder buttons, and the action buttons while using the stylus to move your character then you have magic hands lol...but fair enough, I cant as I only have 2 hands =)
