    Should I buy a 360?

I've got back into console gaming a lot now and I'm very tempted by the lovely new XBOX 360. The question is should I make the jump? I love online gaming and my main genre is driving, arcadey or sim and the odd extreme sports game like Amped, Tony Hawk's etc.

I have about £300 max to spend so I'm looking to buy either new or used and get a premium pack and PGR3 and later Test Drive Unlimited. I'd also think I'd get Amped 3 and Table Tennis later on and definately future incarnations of the Need For Speed and Tony Hawk's games.

Is it worth me doing this and if I did should I run it through a big ol' SDTV 4:3 CRT or a 19" 16:9 LCD Monitor with the official VGA Cable.

Would I be better off just trading up my 6800LE to an X1900XT leaving enough for a DS Lite?

One final question, is Forza a good enough replacement for Gran Turismo 4?

Thanks once again guys and gals!

360s are great, Live is great. Games for it are getting better. I'd say a monitor's your best bet as the HD is really worth it. (I've run it on both)

Oh, and Table Tennis is excellent, definitely buy it if you get one as it's only 30 quid max.

If you want to play games that are the same as previous versions but with shiney new gfx then buy a 360. If you want something fun and original then don't bother, its a waste of money. I would get a DS lite and a copy of Metroid.

Much better to buy it and play it through your LCD so you get it in HD

I think my 360 is one of the best consoles I've ever bought and I've had a few! I can't quite put my finger on what makes it good but it is! Could be the wireless controllers, could be the games...

BTW I would add Oblivion to your games list if you like RPGs or even if you don't!
An Atlantean Triumvirate, Ghosts of the Past, The Centre Cannot Hold
The Pillars of Britain, Foundations of the Reich, Cracks in the Pillars.

My books are available here for Amazon Kindle. Feedback always welcome!

I think the thing that ties the whole Xbox 360 console together is the Xbox Live / Blade system. It's amazing

Same here, I have to get Loco Roco, the Katamiri game, Super Monkey Ball Aventures, as well as Test Drive Unlimited and Gran Turismo 4 Mobile when they're out.

Looks like I'm gonna make the most of my PS2 with GT4 for a while till TD:U is out on the XBOX and I have a few more quid to spend

I brought one the day it came out and love it
The media streaming is brilliant, and im really enjoying the games too. Most of them can be picked up on Ebay for about 20-25 quid too
Im going down the 360 + Wii as opposed to one PS3 (which im really not that interested in)

Live just works. There is no other way to put it. The interface is simple and elegant, with plenty of features. Downloads from the arcade, demos and trailers really add a nice touch.
It’s just a great “grab your pad and play” console. When that statement carries over to online play too, you know its all good

Totally agree with Agent. MS have worked hard at getting their console seemless...and they have succeeded...well

Never have I experienced online gaming that just soooo easy to get playing

The blade system is easy and simply to use and setup and the friends system is cool

EDIT: Agree with Lee too - 360 + Wii ftw
