    Angry dam battlefield 2

i have started having a problem with battlefield 2 the game keeps jerking its never done it before at first i thought it was just lag off the server but i have tried loads of servers and it is the same on each one!

i have all the settings on full (as usual) and it runs between 85 and 100 frames per second but every 5-10 seconds the framerate drops to about 40-60 frames per second!

please help me i dont know what to try its never done this before!

My opinions are the same as Josh. As for your problem, turn down dynamic lighting, the dynamic shadows, and the other option down to medium and see how that plays, it's the usual culprit for erratic framrates (and see if you actually notice a difference).

Do you have a dual core processor if so...

I have framerate issues with BF2 when I use both cores of my processor, it's a good idea to switch off one of the cores when playing.

If you have upgraded your graphics driver recently it may be worth deleting the folders in

    C:\Documents and Settings\<yourname>\My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache

When you next load a map it will create new cache files based on current driver.

Let's be reasonable, it was near playable, then patch 1.3 ruined it all again

Mine does this, apparently upgrading to 2GB solves it. Have to say it is really annoying because you can't do anything, and when it does it while you're flying then say goodbye to your plane.

    How much ram you got?

Thirded, I have not played since my machine seems unable to play it, it crashes to desktop, won't connect to games and generally won't let me play for more than 30 minutes.

Ahhhh ha hear the fan boys cry out: "Tune up your crappy machine lol!!!11nine"...but how come my AMD 3700 2GB RAM PC can play FEAR no worries and CS:S no problem at all but BF2 can't. Also all other games like RTS run mighty fine too.

COME ON EA! I used to really respect their software house for good games but now pusshing out good games made of tripe. Although I look forward to C&C 3 I am scared of its quality without Westwood.

I too have had issues galore with this game.

Worked flawlessly when installed and then when the latest patch was released I installed it and now can't play as it crashes after about 10 mins, drops to desktop or just freezes.

Occasionally - it even shows the "insert disc" message.

I doubt I'll be getting BF2142 unless there's promises to fix things and release properly tested patches and not beta ones which BF2 seems to be plagued with.

Spent many an hour in that game till 1.3 then quit a great clan and stopped playing.

I won't be getting 2142 but I will be getting Quake Wars!
