    Titan Quest Character Choice

    Hello All,

I've recently bought this and installed it but havent had much time to actually get to play this - so... I was wondering if any of you had played this and could give me some advice - I basically want to have a good mixed character, probably weighted more to melee combat, but with the ability to cast some decent spells, but would like some tips about which masteries to go for to be able to fo this, as there are some that are pretty similar..

I would lilke to have a character much like the paladin in Diablo 2. For the Melee side i guess this means the Warfare mastery, but which 'magic' one should i go for?

    Any comments welcome

Go for the Warfare mastery which is the basic warrior and then select something on the lines of a Necro to back you up as it has a few summoning powers as well as drain spells. You pick the first mastery once you reach the first level and get to choose a 2nd once you reach level 8.

I wouldn't bother with the dual wielding of weapons, found it to be quite poor. It may be better at higher levels but you do lose a few points off your armour due to losing the shield understandably.

Also make sure you patch the game up to the latest build as there are numerous fixes to the single player campaign including fixing a memory leak !

warfare necro sounds good, i went for defence and nature and i'm finding myself lacking dps at times and have trouble on some bosses but that might be because i'm a bit rubbish

Wow - that site looks great, will have to study that later! I played a bit earlier and had picked Warfare as that seemed a good idea, but now not sure to either couple it with Storm or defense - or start once again and pick those two together.

If i DONT pick warfare, do you think that I'll be hindered in anyway? God there are sooo many combinations - could take me a while to sort this out...

I went for Earth and warfare , which makes a battlemage , pretty good especially with flame weapons.

My first time was warrior/ hunting, and the thing is that the net thing is cool but other then that hunting sucks kind of.
My second was storm/ rogue. Again storm is difficult in the beginning until you sink every point into mana/energy,,, then it's payback time, like when arnold is holding the mini-gun in any movie he does. Just left click spray and hold. "Die vermin scum"!!
    Rogue kind of sucks.
Defense looks cool for a second skill for the warrior.
Bash, Stun, Smash, and KILL, KILL, KILL!!!!!

Something to build mana/energy would be good,,,

Tell me how exciting it is to get your first green or blue item,,,,
    It's like " oh yes!!!"

Just had a quick go and its really quite satisfying. Havent really done much except save the villiage, add a few points into one of my Warrior skills (where the power increases with successive hits - quite useful when surrounded) and then wandered into Laconia and into my first cave, where I completed the first side quest.

Just getting used to the teleport system so that i can horde as much as i can, port back sell the stuff to clear space/get money and then port back. Works quite well. I got to say that its nice to just pop into the game, even at this early stage, and kill some Satyrs and wild boar, the grahpics are just really beautiful, this is what Diablo 3 should be like (If it wasnt going to be some odd MMORPG - but thats another story).

Picking up stuff that i cant use, so i may just level for a bit until i get to 8 or something, then carry on. Shame that you can only see your experience and not how much XP you need to get to reach the next level. I remember playing Diablo 2, arcane sanctury, telling myself - I'll play unitl i can reach the next character level...

But impressed really. I havent got the time at the mo to sit and give it a good few hours in one sitting but in a few weeks maybe. Until then, I'll dip in now and then to top up my XP. And its mighty satisfying...

I've found that by the time I've killed half a skeleton horde I've got to make 2 or 3 trips to offload all the stuff lying about (not counting the broken stuff you only get 1 gold for. - It would take more like 5 or 6 trips to deal with those and for negligable gain (tip: hold ALT to see all common (white) or better pick ups, X to filter out common and Z to see all pickups (incl grey)).

I've currently got 2 characters on the go, a level 8 Hunter (have yet to decide on second mastery) equipped with bow (explosive damage) and spear and a level 7 Spirit (necro) equipped with bow and flame staff (with lvl1 Zeus artefact giving +7 lightning damage)

I'm at the 2nd village (next village on from the spartens camp) with both characters (I alternate the character every time I play) and I'm really enjoying it.

little tip: there's a green gauge on the bottom of the screen below the quickslots, when that fills, you level up.

The thing I miss most is not being able to store some of the things I pick up for later use
