Its the first game ive bought in a while and i love it. Got it for 21 quid of amazon as well as opposed to 35 from HMV and the like. Loads of quests do them any way u want, graphics superb i run everying on full on my machine at 1024 x 768 and it runs really well. There are a few niggles, physic guards always seem to know when your stealing and only a handful of voices are used to a lot of characters sound the same - but easily forgiveable cause theres loads another good guide http://guides.gamepressure.com/theel...olls4oblivion/

    Permanently confused

I've heard nothing but good things about the game, the only bad thing I've heard is that it takes over your life, you wont stop. I haven't played it myself, as I have much school work and do not want to get into such a game.

Meh I don't think it's all that great really, well it's good but it could be alot better, the creature leveling system really ruins the point of leveling up at all, every single quest can be completed by a level 1 character. If you have the PC, there are plenty of mods around to address this issue and make leveling up a worthwhile thing to do again.

IMO Morrowind was a much better game, there are somethings that oblvion does better, but in general Morrowind is a better game, they butchered Oblivion for the mass market console audience.

You really don't want a guide for a game like this. Its more fun just messing up and then learning from your mistakes. This also adds replay value to it.

Agreed, I found that most of the fun of this game was 'discovering' new magical weapons and stumbling over towns/quests, I only sought advice if I got stuck on a quest and for that there are lots of guides online for free, use the £10 and put it towards guild wars

I really wish I could play this game but I can't even get to the first town without a crash to desktop. I started another game and my keyboard/mouse stoppped responding sporadically.

    Anyone else having troubles?

    Have you reinstalled the game?

Uninstall, install new GFX drivers, reinstall, install patch. Should work fine.

As for playing it, dont get a guide it will ruin it.

What system have you got mate?

If it's lower than the GeForce 6 series then i would recommend running it on 640x480 resolution, no AA, no Bloom.

Also, look for an .ini tweak guide, that should help a bit.

Finally, if you're crashing to the desktop, make sure that your system isn't overheating (not hard in this weather). Plus of course, follow the advice above - install the latest graphics drivers and patch Oblivion - see if that helps.

With regards to the original post, Gamefaqs.com should help usually..but i would agree with people that you shouldnt really get a guide for Oblivion.. mess around until you find a class that works, the side quests should not be found in a guide! You will not get the full 200hrs+ from Oblivion if you read how to do the quests

Unplug any extra USB devices (joystick, gamepad, printer etc.)
