This is an exceptionally good game that many Hexus users play. I myself have been playing WoW since the Open Beta, I stopped playing a couple of months ago due to work reasons, but I have just started up again on the newest PvE server, Lightbringer
Anyway this is one of the most addictive and fun games I have ever played - never have I played a game with such a long lifespan. As Blizzard continually add new content and update the classes and races, the game continually grows.
To summarise, if you catch the WoW bug, this game will keep you occupied for a long time.
I've been enjoying the trial quite a bit, though I admit it took me a while to get over the cartoony nature of the graphics. As people have said, the only problem with getting into a 'proper' MMORPG like Everquest or WoW (as opposed to something like GW or RuneScape) is that it will eat a lot of your time. Everquest is nicknamed Evercrack for a reason; I lost 3 years of my life to that game. >.<
I would have recommended you try the 10 day trial before you went and spent any money, though. At least you'll have the option to stop playing after the free month if you're enjoying it too much/too little. ^^;

Hard and it is heavy dirty and mean
lol ok, how much of your time does it take up? ( heard that oblivion take up a massive amount of time is it more than that?) and does anyone know when the exapnsion will be released for use on E.U servers?
for me it's 30-40 hours a week I guess. No offical date on the expansion yet, around christmas tho I expect.Originally Posted by nicksmith182

I've been playing since release, and only have 2 characters lol (and only one is a 60!). It's a game where up until Level 60 (the current level cap) you can spend as little or as much time as you want on it - for the first 10 months or so I took things slowly with a few hours a week, questing and levelling..but when I hit 60 (2 months ago) things changed completely.
At 60 you spend 99% of your time either earning reputation (i'm currently going for exhaulted with Argent Dawn), or doing instances/raids for some cool dropsThe problem is that while grinding for rep can again be done a few hours a week, by far the most fun is had in the instances - and these take anywhere from 45min to 10 hours depending on which one you do, with which group, and how far you go.
As a result i've probably spent 20-30 hours a week on it since i hit 60 lolHas paid off though, have now got 7/8 items from my warriors Valor item set, so will be upgrading to heroism soon
Well worth buying anyway, especially if you can get a few of your friends to sign up as well, makes it all the more fun when you know the people from your party in real life.
It's very addictive that's why it's been given the jokey name of World of Warcrack
I liked it, but got bored as I couldn't put the time in that's require so I was miles behind everyone else in my guild.
i have no idea what valor or upgrading to heroism is...but i take it that its goodOriginally Posted by Spud1
, im just d/l'ing the latest update now and then down to serious gamin
, is there like a tutorial level like there was on GW n RuneScape?
i got free 10 day thing to give to friend to save them buying the game as they just borrow mine...so that one friend defo playing with me...who to give it to thoughDECISIONS!
hehe they are certain sets of armour (there are a few for each class), and if you have a certain number of pieces of that set you get special bonuses - such as extra attack power, healing, resistance..very useful
As for tutorials, well the best thing to do is what no man ever does - read the manualAt least skim through it, although alot of it will be outdated because of various changes made by patches it will still give you a brief introduction to some of the concepts of WoW.
The 'starting' zone also acts as a kind of tutorial, and for the first few levels you get little hints appearing every now and again to tell you what certain things mean.
There will usually be some people around that can help you out too - so if your stuck just ask in general chatMost of the players above the age of 18 (can't wait till the end of school holidays - will be so much less spam in the chat ) are friendly and helpful, and bored Level 60's may even help you to level up if you ask really nicely.
If you want free loot at lvl 60 make a druid.
or a female night elfThis is something I will never understand - but if you play as a female character and do things like '/flirt' in the in-game chat, or remove all your armour (so your effectivly 'naked' in game) people will be more generous with prices or give you gold lol.
remember people...its computer generated imagery...not a real woman lol
