Buy the 360 if you have a high def TV. If you don't then go for the graphics card and mobo.

I have a P4C 3Ghz and a 9800XT. I decided not to get an upgrade and got myself a 360, haven't looked back since. Was completely the right choice for me.

i would buy the 360, you already have a pc that can run games to a reasonable level. Would you rather have the games you already own looking a bit nicer or a larger library of games to pick from

Obviously just a personal point of view, but having both really does open up the variety of games you have to play on.

Nice gamer score on pgr3 Parm, i got stuck with 3 challenges left on gold and i just cant do them *cries*

Depends on the games you like playing imho

If its FPS, strategy, MMORPG or similar, go for the PC upgrade.

If its more racing, beat em up, football and puzzle you want, go for the 360.

Personally I would upgrade the PC, but then I'm biased, and the 360 offers me nothing that my pc and gamecube cannot already give me The 360 can't even output in the highest quality HDTV mode remember, plsu decent HDTVs are still very very expensive..

I agree with Nick. I used to have a standard 4:3 tv with my xbox which was great. But when I got my hdtv, it was so much better.

My current set-up is an A64 3500+ with a BFG 6600GTOC. I bought a 360 in Jan and I seem to play it more than my PC (although saying that, I have started getting into Titan Quest recently, and I’ve started playing CS:S and UT2k4 again – I really need to update my graphics card though ).

There are some really good games out for the 360 (Like Oblivion, PGR3, Table Tennis & (soon) Dead Rising) although I could argue that it hasn't yet got that killer, must have, AAA exclusive title yet (Although Table Tennis, of all things, is pretty close).

XBL Arcade is fantastic, and the ability to download demos for the console over bb is a brilliant idea.

The only downside of the 360 is the price of the games, but even those can be found cheap enough if you're prepared to search or wait for a 2nd hand copy, or even rent.

The achievement system is a good way to drive you to complete every last corner of each game you play and to even get you to try game-types you would never have considered playing before (I borrowed Madden and Fight Night from a friend simply to get the achievements before he sold them on e-bay and was surprised at how much I enjoyed Madden - even though I know nothing about American Football, or even football in general).

I'd look at the type of game you want to play and how you want to play it: if you like FPS and you don't mind using a controller the 360 is great, if however you prefer using a mouse then the majority of FPS games on the 360 (Q4, BF2, COD2) are available on the PC and cheaper to boot.
Fighting games (DOA4, SF2) and Racing games (RR6, PGR), on the other hand, are better on a console than on a PC.

I wouldn't say don't get a 360 if you don't have a HD-TV as it still looks impressive on a standard def TV (which I ran mine on for a good 3-4 months before I managed to get a VGA cable so that I could run it on my 20” Dell widescreen monitor). The difference between SD and HD is immense, but IMO, it shouldn’t be the deciding factor in whether you get a 360 or not.

Here is a list of games I’m currently looking forward to, check them out to see if any of them interest you:

    Halo 3
Dead Rising (demo available on XBL)
    Fable 2
    Too Human
Lost Planet (demo available on XBL)
    Bullet Witch
    Gears of War
    Ninety Nine Nights
    F.E.A.R.

    ..
Sensible advice and I agree, all depends on what games you want to play. My PS3 is purely DVD player now as games like Shooter Like The Others 6 and Racing Just Like Last Year doesn't do it for me, there is more innovation on PC as it is not yet all about sales marked in millions.

I'm no 360 owner but the 360 pretty much excels in eye candy...

what the 360 excels in is *not* having to tweak a load of settings in order to play a game.
Mind you that's also a drawback if you happen to like tweaking the settings to get the perfect balance between eye candy and fps...
