half life 1

can anybody help me i am on level we have hostiles on half life 1 when i go into lift to get to next level the lift sticks and all my lifes dissappear do i need to do anything before i go into lift please help i have been stuck on this level for 2 weeks hope i have put this in the right place here is hoping

Now this is from memory and I haven't played HL1 for many a year, but arent there some explosive traps at the top of the lift shaft, therefore they are tripped when you go up. Take one of those backpack charges (that I think you are given just before the lift) and send that up first, explode it (to detonate the traps) and call the lift. You should be able to ascend in safety.

thanks for trying to help but i think you are thinking about something else you have to get into lift then press button once you have done that the lift door shuts then you get stuck thanks anayway

This is a well known bug, as you go up the lift, you should get an autosave. Just before you get to the top of the shaft you have to jump. This should stop you getting stuck.
