    Saints Row

Strange game this one, it's exactly like GTA but with loads of glitches and dodgy A.I.

There seems to be a lot of this type of game about at the moment.

After playing the Demo though, I thought it's everything GTA tried to be and more... seems really good.

I certainly seems like a better game on paper. Better graphics, character customisation, multiplayer...

But there's something about it that doesn't work for me and I can't put my finger on what it is exactly. There seems to be a certain GTA magic missing. Maybe it's the humour, the music or just the style, I don't know.

I'm more looking forward to Lego Starwars II, to be honest.

There's a lot of talk about this game right now and I know a few people who have pre-ordered it for the UK release this friday.

It's not really of interest to me though, I gave the demo a quick whirl but it really just felt like senseless violence to me.
I wasn't expecting a lot though as I never enjoyed any of the GTA games either.

i didnt take to the demo, however, i'm finding myself pretty hooked on the final.

some mega glitches/bugs/annoyances but is fun, has the addictiveness of GTA1 which is nice. certainly has some features which would be good in GTA and vice versa.

I really liked the demo although there were a few glitches. For instance, I crashed a car into a wall and then the car randomly jumped to the height of an adjacent building. Having said that there are some really cool features that make up for the glitches.

Yep I 've had the full version for about 10 days so played it to death. Although I'm having problems trying to get in a room online.

Armed combat and general ground movement is far better than GTA, but the rest of the game is pretty stale and full of glitches.

Review will be up next week.

I don't have the game myself but apparantly Volition are working on a patch with the following changes:

    • Improvements to the way the game handles packet loss and bandwidth management between players. This will address the issues commonly cited as “lag”, and general synchronization problems between the players’ clients (vehicles/players warping around, etc).
    • The system for rating a player’s quality-of-service has been improved, and made less conservative. This means you’ll see many more matches with 10-12 player limits.
    • Fix for the “clothes stealing” exploit in multiplayer
    • Fix for widescreen formatting issues in certain resolutions
    • Changes to Matchmaking phase, to get players in the game faster

I've played it a bit, and it seems to lack that certain charm that GTA has.

I've ordered this, game the demo a run through and really enjoyed it. I think it's possibly the first GTA clone that is actually good.

im really enjoying it, its like gta without the annoying fly the remote controlled helicopter or the irritating mission with the train or the russians chasing you. the turf wars are good fun and escalate out of control very quickly

havent tried multiplayer yet and i think i will wait for a patch, but as it is im really enjoying it. The customisation to cars is a nice touch too, end up with some sweet looking cars.

and one of the best rocket launchers ever too
