Dead Rising - HDTV only ?

There's lots of noise on the web at the moment about this game being only playable on an Xbox360 that has a HDTV.

Apparently it will work not with Standard resolution TV's.

Anyone know if this is true or not ?

I heard that there was one game (maybe this one), where on a normal TV, you couldn't read the mission briefings, so the game was virtually unplayable. It was on digg a week or two ago if you feel like a searchy.

Looks like it's not worth buying if you don't have an HDTV. So much for the 'it just works' model of console gaming.

It works fine on an SDTV, just the digg review purposely made the signal worse to try to prove apoint that wasn't there.

I've heard it's a bit hard to read some of the smaller text when it's on a SDTV, but hardly unplayable.

I heard capcom are attemting to patch this issue

seems to be a recurring theme with the 360 - king kong was already declared unplayable on an SDTV by ubisoft

Lucky I have a spare monitor

Incidentally, how would I hook up a 360 to a monitor, I planning to get one soon.

I know you need the VGA cable for to do it, but how would I get audio as all I have are my PC speakers, anyone know of a thinkamagig converter so I can plug the two audio cables into the PC speaker cable?

The VGA cable I've just got off Carl has the audio in 2 phono connections.

What I plan to do is then connect this to the soundcard or speakers on the TFT via a headphone to 2 phono cable I already own

This works in both SD and HDTV mode, however in SD mode the majority of the text is unreadable.

Capcom are working on a fix and are aware of the issues therefore there should be an update for it in a month or so.

I'm amazed how this could've slipped by so easily, surely they tested it on a SDTV?

Apparently not - they only tested it in HD mode therefore it passed there final QC and only came to light once the game was released in the US.

Patchy Patch time - Although I have to say, when will developers learn that my poor student friends can neither afford Xbox Live, an internet connection or a HDTV.

Needless I'll just have play it on my dolby digital, and on either my HD Projector or 32" LCD in protest... So oh well

Oi... gief me a new phone then

Well - the texts not turned out to be that bad really.

Imagine the size of size 8 font in Word (arial - size 8) and then view the page at 75%.

That's it that gives the same "blurry" edged fonts which you can read if your good at making out shapes etc

Anyway, as if you need to read the text on the screen. It's a case of running about, dodging zombies and running to the nearest hardware shop for a chainsaw and hedgetrimmers
