    This guys is soo right..

This Editorial on IGN has hit the nail on the head with regards to next-gen "downloadable content" especially as Microsoft are releasing these new peices of content that can only be used a certain amount of times before you have to rebuy them.

    Made me smile

i have bought some of the content myself though. Although only the car packs for gotham that i can remember.

As for consumables, i wont ever buy them on a limited usage base and i cant see others doing it either.

The problem with this is that it is going to encourage developers to omit certain things to then offer up for sale later down the line. I expect developers are already designing games with this in mind.
So what would normally be included as standard will slowly be only available for sale online.

A similar development is "in game advertising". Watch out for product placement, this will be everywhere in games very soon.

reminds me of battlefield series, expansions and booster packs are just ways for the devs to rush out an incomplete game.... mind you after so many patches its still incomplete

I wont touch it with a barge pole or anything else similar to DRM. When I pay for something, I'm keeping it and doing whatever I see fit with it.

A lot of companies seem to want you to 'rent' stuff from them at the price of actually buying it.

Before buying anything I'd sum up the total price of paying the game and decide on that. On second though I proably wouldn't buy anything with too much to buy later just on general principles.

That link was too funny... but sad in its own little way. People, with every medium have always found a way to make even more money out of it, and it just had to happen - I'm just glad that my console days are over, because I would probably have BLOWN a ton of money on all of this gumpf...

The article does have a point, it's starting to get a bit rediculous. I thought the horse armour thing was bad but the GT HD thing is just awful.
