What have the loons in the Truro PC World store done ? I work in the Truro Curry's store, and this isn't the first problem I've heard from them. Firstly, they are talking out of their rear end, I'd love to know the name of the sales person who they talked to, so I could go in there and give then stick.

Secondly, if really desperate and as I also live in Cornwall depending on where your lad is I could pop round with my WOW CD's and try those on the same PC. If mine fail, then well the problem is the drive in the PC.

Just a quick question how old is your lad and does he know he has to pay to this game online when he gets passed the 28 day trial ??

28 day trial? I thought it was either 10 or 14 days?

As for the SP3 - there is a dodgy "update pack" available if you look around enough. Unsurprisingly it's full of malware and probably warez, so if they insist that they have it I'd be looking at other things too - possibly a rebuild in all honesty...

    I agree Splash.

If his stepdad knows what he is doing i am going to leave him to it if i get too involved and it all goes pear shaped i might get blamed

I don't know about the trial if you have bought the game but if you download it you get 10 or 14 days but that is now closed

Ah apologies - I misinterpreted you - I thought you meant the trial key that you get with the retail copy, or via the teaser.wow-europe.com site.

The only registry value is the install path, this is used when patching.

Although not having that will most likely not cause any problems when using a single install to the defualt directory.

p.s. The PC world quotes are always good for a laugh!

I don't mean to sound cold, or cruel, or vicious, but I am so that's the way it comes out.

    Belated Update Sorry

After complaining to PCw and being given 0870 tech support numbers to call
His mum finally returned the PC and demanded her money back stating the PC was bought at the same time as the game with the assurance that the two were compatible (yey).

PC world then tried to install the game and failed a partner IT company tried to install the game and failed.

Finally head office ordered a new PC to be given as replacement which was valued at £400 more than the original and sporting a Core Duo processor.

Thanks for all advice given it was appreciated
