You guys HAVE to get Company of Heroes..

My colleague just came back from a meeting in L.A. and the Company of Heroes game he bought just before over at Best Buy..

And all I can say is..... ITS A ZOMG SUPERB FANTASTIC GAME!!! Pre-Order it if required, its perhaps the best RTS of the year.. period..

Can't explain too much, but its hell of a game.. and the graphics and physics engine are just remarkable to say the least.

Gameplay wise, its kinda a wee bit resembles those of 40k warhammer, but its evolved so much that its a much fine tuned and polished game..

I've just got 2 hrs gameplay when I'm at his place this morning, and I've preordered mine from Gameplay not 2 min after playing it..

It's one of the best RTS I've ever played and the whole physics thing never gets old.

Especially if you're creative. With some trial and error it's possible to modify buildings how you want, and use wrecked tanks as roadblocks.

Thats an awesome deal, Dawn Of War, is class.

Ive played the demo, it's cool. Ive pre-orderd it from play. Im hoping the single player campaign is fun, as to me the MP seems a bit boring with only 2 sides.

Single player is really ingrossing., and much more tactical than most RTS games.
Multiplayer has some 8 player maps too.

Yes but the multiplayer made a bit more sense in Dawn of War as you could have Marines vs Orks vs Chaos Vs Eldar.

Online its great, although im still playing the Beta. Me and my friend play 2 vs 2 against the computer on hard most of the time.

I must admit to still being pretty rubbish though

Cant wait for the full version to come through me letterbox

well the only complaint I have on the multiplayer is perhaps the colouring of allied troops. Having more than a coupld of allies will have u wondering which is urs and which is not...

Well, to be fair COH only has 2 factions, axis and allies.. I think its alot harder to work together to win and be alot more strategic in terms of large scale engagement rather than the tried, done.. and very old 'free-for-all' games.. Games now are soo much more unpredictable.. things change every time and advantage changes after every engagement, mainly due to the amount of carnage, terrain damage and building vantage points that swaps after every battle. And at least games now alot LONGER and very stressful throughout.. previously we've tried short, repetetive and stressful.. or long, slow paced but not very interesting.. ala Homeworld 1/2..

A breathe of fresh air IMO.. RTS multiplayer has never been so frantic.. no not even starcraft.. (BOLD STATEMENT.. but true IMHO..)

Well this game is a bit "too" hard even on EASY for my liking.

Played the Lyon map and took EVERY point upto the bridges and over the train-track and put snipers, mortar etc all facing the river.

Planted explosives on 2 of the road bridges and blew them up and I still get my arse handed to me in a bodybag.

How the heck does the enemy get the resources to get about 10 tanks, storm the bridge and hand my ass to me flame-grilled with a sprinkling of Mortar-bits I'll never know.

Easy - No it's not.... ( well to me anyway and I have played many a battle on most RTS's including DoW )

I found it quite tough in beta too. Last night played with some other noob, me and him against a normal and an easy cpus. We were being slaughtered at half way point, i just managed to get 3 tanks as reinforcements and used them to beat back the attacks of a tank or apc with infantry while my ally was bringing in paratroopers and supplies to frantically try to capture back at least another point. Meanwhile my one and a half engineers have been frantically building machine gun emplacements... Then we managed to expand a bit, move ahead and while i secured the line by placing my tanks all along it and capping stray points with my jeeps my ally amassed a bit of a tank rush and went in to destroy the enemy. We won in 2 hours 45seconds... And it wasn't easy... Its hard to find a balance between defence, expansion and micromanaging your troops.
Tough on mirrors, tough on the causes of mirrors.

But tbh, by the time you've gaining ground and slowly edging forward.. its already so far past bedtime.. you've got 10am meeting tomorrow and you're a couple more *minutes* in getting the win.. and if u indulge.. by the time its over... thats another 2 hrs..

System specs, well I ran it on my mate's C2D 6600, 2GB and X1800XT 256MB.. on 1440x900 everything upped to max with anti-aliasing and HQ AF and I get an average of 35-40.. lows of 25.. high of 60-70 using FRAPS..

In game testing tool gave me average of mid 30s, low of 20s and highs of 100+
