    Best wheel for GTR2

I'm looking into getting a FF wheel for GTR2. Which is best???

I'm considering the Logitech Force EX at £37 from scan. Does anyone know if the PS2 version is compatible. I s'pect it's exactly the same except for the button logos.

Logitech driving force pro is probably the best atm can be had for about £60 including delivery, it has 900 degrees of rotation and will works with PCs and PS2s. However the G25 is coming soon but will have a clutch pedal and a 6 speed gated shifter It will cost about £160 though, owch!

Can someone please explain to me why you need 900 degrees of rotation? What you do need is pedals capable of being on indepent axis or you can say good bye to left foot braking. I heard logitech momo wheel was good. But maybe theres something better now. In any case you also definately want force feedback.

well, for starters, real cars have 900 degrees streering lock to lock..

independent axis is already doable, or else you're pretty much screwed in any serious rally games (i.e. richard burns rally) as left leg braking, lift-off or fein oversteer is impossible to perform correctly..

clutch pedal is important for heel toe, proper lift-off oversteer and clutch balance drift. On GTR, having no clutch pedal means you have zero control over the RPM redline and the torque range when you enter and exit a turn..

But race cars, particularly the likes of F1 have thery small number of turns from lock to lock. I normally have the sensitivity high enough to not even use the less than 360 degrees of lock that my sidewinder gives me.

And i know that the axis is doable, its just not everyone does it and you've got to be careful to pick the wheel that does. My personal experience of this was when i had to map a button for brake so i could pass a lesson in rally school in Richard Burns rally

the preference for 900 degree lock to lock differs I suppose, but it does feel alot closer to reality as I still don't feel comfortable not having to swing and swap hands when I countersteer. Certainly, sim racing is still a long way to go.. but for now its as good as it gets.

clutch pedal would be a plus as when Im driving in GTR, I never get to hit the right RPM whenever I downshift without heel toe. Wrong RPM exiting a turn means extremely sluggish exit.. nuff said..

most modern wheels will do separate peddle axis fine. I use an R440 and its one of the better wheels available, the FF is not overly strong but very responsive to every bumps and pebbles...

Driving Force Pro > MOMO = R440 IMO..

The only complaint about the R440 is the build quality looks abit shyt.. but dont get mixed up by the actual feel and FF performance of it..

The DFP seems to be only marketed at the PS2, is there PC drivers?

I totally agree about the DFP being an outstanding wheel - feels really solid and realistic. I improved my laps in GT4 considerably. Even got a timber 'cockpit' made or mounting it on. Not the cheapest wheel in the shops though, but you get what you pay for I suppose.
