    Serial codes for PC games

I've installed Paraworld and now I have to enter a serial number.

However the number on the back of the manual has 40 digits (8 sets of 5), but there are 41 spaces in the box where the code needs to be entered.

Despite trying it dozens of times the button that you press (OKAY) to confirm that I've entered the numbers but it doesn't let me confirm the code. In fact it stays unhighlighted even if I put a random extra character in the box.

Any ideas? or is it case of going back to the publishers?

Email them and ask whats going on or try all 26 letters and ten numbers on the keyboard until it lights up.

It's probably a check digit so only one will light up.

    Cheers, still doesn't work.

Three games today alll of which I can't play : 2 X Doesn't recognise serial number and one that Installs, but upon launching reports an error file.

I also tried a copy of GRAW the other day (an original) and it didn't recognise the serial number either. Very frustrating.

ensure that you're entering the CD key (usually on the back of the manual, on the quick reference card, on the CD, or on a sticker inside the CD case)

nobody would *ever* put a cd key on the outside of the case, as it can be copied & put online

I've been so paranoid that it's just me typing in the wrong numbers that I keep double checking and trying them again...but no luck.

It's a long shot but you could try reinstalling the windows installer, seeing as it's happening across multiple games

If you have SP2 you should have it, but weirder things have happened.

Ahh don't worry I have done that, you can't see the wood for the trees and get frustrated and then you find it, feel silly and don't tell anyone.

I spent 1/2 hour with a Office 2003 trying to install it from a Office 2000 key...until I asked someone else to try, I was very embarassed!
