Yeah it's blatantly obvious how you would go about it. I was going to have a play when i got my copy, saves me some hassle
TBH, I'm not bothered unless it drops my framerates.
I doubt that anyone will be able to block ads in the long term.
I read a few posts in the totalbf2142 forums. People where talking about blocking the relevant ports or IP addresses at the firewall, or even setting up their own ad server the only serves blank ads, and then programing their firewall to re-direct packets.
None of that will work if EA decide to stop it. They can easily issue a patch so that when your copy of BF2142 connects to the ad server, it gets an encypted token signed with EA's private key. You would then need that token to connect to a game server. It will be imposible to forge the token without knowning EA's private key.
