    Call of Juarez

has anybody had any probs with this game?, brought it yesterday and installed no probs. but come to play it and it's a differtent story, all i get is the balck screen of pain.

done the usual things ie. uninstalled drivers and cleaned out with DCpro and reinstalled, updated dx9 etc etc etc, but still get black screen in normal/safe modes.......any ideas? might toy with changing the catalyst 6.9 for the latest omega driver pack and see if that changes anything.

Nope, not played it. But this was announced yesterday if anyone has the game..

Techland announced today that a free to download Multiplayer Map-Pack for its Wild West shooter Call of Juarez will be released soon. It will feature 8 completely new maps varying in size, setting, gameplay type and maximum number of players.

The maps are almost ready now and have just entered Beta testing phase. To ensure the highest possible quality of the design of the maps Techland launches open Beta tests of the map-pack. All players with the full version of the game who would like to participate in the Beta Test should visit the official game's forum at: http://www.coj-game.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=4968#4968 for more info on how to register and sign up for the tests.

looks quite good - just not my thing - more of a CS/SWAT type

intensive as well though - ran like a dog on my 6800GT, unline virtually everyhting else I like playing - which is another reason I did'nt like it

Juarez runs like a dog on most systems. I got through the game start to finish but it is such a system hog and has a habit of locking up as and when it feels.

Worst one for me was loading a game, the music would go into one of those stutters that sounds like a cd with a scratch in it and the mouse would lock up. If you leave it alone for about 10 mins it then would come on. I also found that whilst playing at times I had to knock the res down and back up again later. Quite bizarre really. This usually happened on Rays sections, Billys sections ran smooth as silk.

As for the black screen, try changing the graphics settings to use shader model 2. Whenever I ran using SM3 was when I got the most problems, also knock the res down to 800x600.
