Yes, the spyware is quite an annoying issue for many.

Apparently in a statement on the EA forums yesterday, one of the game's developers stated that the "spyware" claims were pretty much untrue. The only thing it would be tracking is whether or not you have looked at the in-game ads or not. It will not track anything outside of the game like browser behaviour, cookies etc....

The whole idea of ingame ads is distasteful imo. Product placement will be next I guess. Watch the cut-scenes in Halo 3 very carefully. I bet Master Chief has a long hard look to camera whilst holding a can of Pepsi Max....
