Age III resolution

Hi all,
I'm wondering what res my computer can go up to on age of empires 3. I tried just experimenting but this resulted in some issues where no images were produces and so I had to reinstall. With my setup, what res should I be able to set it to?
AMD Athlon64 3000+ Venice Core
Geforce 6600 GT PCI-E 128mb
1gb Corsair CMX512 3200 RAM

ok, if nobody can help me on that, can anyone just tell me a list of resolutions which are 'square', ie. that would be compatible with my monitor?

You should be able to get a pretty decent resolution with that setup. Depends what you put the rest of the settings at though. I think you should be able to get max res (1280x1024) with medium settings, possibly with high settings.

you're limited to 1280x1024 by bug anyway, it's nvidias drivers, but above that you'll just get black screen.

I think it is also important whether there is water in the map, when there is water things get too heavy for the graphics card. PLease tell me whether 6600gt can handle it, because I have just ordered it and I am not sure I made the right choice!

Yeah should handle it fine.

bearing in mind an LCD monitor is like a very large mesh, the largest possible resolution will be one colour per cell of the mesh, which is the native resolution. In this case 1280x1024. The monitor will be physically limited to producing this output resolution, no higher.
