Any modern router should do the job fine, although I think you'd have to get an 8-port (if your xbox is close to your PC you could make your xbox get the internet through your PC, thats what I do with my 360).
You should stay away from linksys though, they're pretty awful routers IMO.
What you need to do is make sure the xbox live ports are open (have to use port forwarding on the router, it's a real pain in the ass IMO), otherwise some games don't work too well online, like Halo 2 has problems setting up custom games.

I've always used Netgear stuff and I've always been completely satisfied with them, never had a problem, yet. *touch wood*
I'm currently using a Netgear DG834GT, which I bought over a year ago. Have it wired to my PC and use it wirelessly from another PC, the Xbox 360, my DS Lite and my mobile phone.
I'm sure Netgear have some newer routers available now too, they might be worth checking out.
