    Buying CD-Keys

For example, the BF2142 key. Is it a good idea just to buy the key abd borrow the CD from someone etc? Can someone fill me in?

Who would sell you they key? normaly the only source of valid game keys is from retail boxed software, so if someone is selling you a key then unless they are offering to post the box later, there is a good chance the key is doggy.

Also, I suspect that there are rules on the Hexus forsale forums that forbid that sort of sale

People who sell them claim they come from the box and that they just trash the rest of the software.

most of these people work in computer game shops and are devious bastards, writing down the CD Keys from new games that are on sale in the shop they work in.... Had this happen at the game shop I used to work at but I told them what I thought of it and it stopped..

Some of the time the game maker/distributer does this. They make the game available for download and then let you buy a CD-key... but that's mostly only with online games.

You'll be better off getting the full game.

BF2142 has spyware by the way.
