Games that really show off a new PC

    Hi all

I've got my new PC and I'm trying to stretch it to see what I've spent my money on

So what games do you recommend as both graphically excellent and obviously fun to play!

I'm looking for some seriously taxing games here, ones that will make the most of a E6600 2GB DDR2-800 7900GX2 system and run with all the glorious graphical options up to 11

I've got Oblivion and COD2, going to get Company of Heroes (and UT2007 when it's out) ... so far so good?

    Thanks

    DM

FEAR, HL2 still does looks fantastic, especially the level with the little jetski type thing, Medieval Total War II demo, Prey, Lock On. CoD2 is one of the best though, just turn everything up and on, put the bodies to insane and start playing!

I remember on one mission where we were defending a farmhouse (as the brits), finished em all off and went outside to have a look around to see a mountain of bodies at the doorway

There are plenty of pretty looking games out there. CoD 2 is very pretty, for an RTS company of heroes is gorgeous, as is the Medieval 2 Demo.

Erm, FEAR is pretty, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, I still think the source engine in HL2 is really awesome, what I like about it is how it looks real, many new games are begining to try so hard to look realistic, they look unrealistic.

But of course, games are all about gameplay, which is why you should never have Oblivion and FEAR installed on your hard drive.

Gothic 3 looks like it would really show off a new computer.

The screenshots I`ve seen of it are amazing.

Whoa! Might buy it if it's only that much, I saw it for £9.99 on play.com but that was a pricing mistake it seems.

It doesn't need to be a new game to try and show off your new PC...just load up Red Alert 2 and make an army of about 1,000 blokes. That oughta do it

That's called old technology restraints , old versions of DX (DX8 for Red alert 2 I believe) couldn't handle as many objects on screen as say Oblivion can, it only gets better as we move up through the DX generation

Call of Juarez is quite good with its depth of field and nicely-detailed characters.

1.4 is complete pants and considering we've been waiting a year or so for it's not good eg engie speed and stamina is absolute tosh, but the game itself is still good.

call of juarez is fun esp in multiplayer.
