    Sony to replace *more* batteries?

    http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=20528

I really genuinely don't want to join in with more Sony-bashing, but... Muh?!?!?

When I read the title I thought you were refering to laptop batteries, which is practically impossible since they have almost all been recalled, then I read the story and realized their stragegy was to make more batteries to create problems with.

*ill kill this bit*. im sure its been included in one of the other (many at the moment) sony threads. apparently, from what i remember in my current *haze*:

    1. they will replace any dead-uns (i guess they can change the batteries themselves. put a new cover on and ship it out as new?)

    2. the original guess of 2 years life for the battery isnt accurate. (most people have a phone with a lithium ion/polymer batter nowadays, and while the standby time will be shorter by the 2 year mark it will still be going strong. id say something like 4-5 years before it becomes crappy lifetime after a charge)

Yeah I don't think we've got that much to worry about for the lifespan of the batteries, they should keep a decent enough charge for a few years to come.

What I would lol my ass off about is if they had to recall everyones PS3 controllers at launch because they have the exploding problems of sony's infamous laptop batteries.

Yeah, lifepans of modern batterys are pretty good, they almost always last through the warrenty, though after that things get iffy.

this is only a problem cause of sony's comedy laptop batteries, if they hant stated self destructing when they did then "sony+battery" wouldnt create anywhere near the amount of trouble.

one thing i will take to task tho is the reason why the battery is non-replaceable . the only thing i can comare it to is PDA's. where the units with unreplaceable batteries were usually thinner than the replaceables ones. ONLY THING I CAN THINK OF
