    DS lite dead pixel

just discovered my new DS lite has a stuck pixel on the touch screen. Took it back to Game, 4 days after purchase, thinking it would be straightforward - apparently not!

Policy is allegedly, 6 pixels or more before they will replace!!!

so slightly miffed my lovely birthday present is not perfect!

I had a look around for Nintendo's policy and they say they will replace even if there's only one! Not sure if that is USA only though.

It just reminds me again why I don't buy from Game

I worked at GAME for over 3 years.
Had a policy of changing it regardless of how many there were. While the ISO levels means that they don’t have to change it (1 dead pixel is not classed as faulty), it was just policy to change them.
Have you gave the people in there any reason to dislike you?

haha - no, not at all, I wasn't even nasty to them about the pixel being dead. I even used to work in the store, but that was back in the day when they were EB!

I've found two pixels now though

I've tried calling customer service, but gave up after 15min on hold, so just sent an email out. Hopefully I'll get a reply soon enough!

I'm pretty sure it's nintendo policy that they can be replaced with even one faulty pixel.

6 is a ridiculously high number of dead pixels on such a small screen! I think Game should redefine their policy instead of using that of much larger pc TFT monitors.

    Hope Nintendo prove useful!

well I got a reply from Game CS

In regards to your query, I am sorry to hear that you have experienced some difficulty returning this console in one of our stores. You are correct in advising that Nintendo do currently have a ‘Zero Dead Pixel’ policy and you are entitled to an exchange/refund in store. I have spoken to the Store Manager who would be more than happy to exchange the console that has dead pixels on it and is within the 12 month manufacturing fault warranty period.
took it back again, no worries this time Got it home only to find out this one has a dead pixel too!

Nintendo were really helpful, I emailed them and got a reply 4 hours later!! But at least I can just go to Game instead of posting off

    Third time's a charm?

Sounds like you're on the road to getting a result. Even with the single dead pixel I'd take it back, my DS lite has zero and you should expect the same. Perhaps when you exchange again you could fire it up in the shop (should turn on without a charge) and check?

well I'll be... it's not actually a dead pixel, its an annoying bit of dirt underneath the screen!

I never would have guessed until looking at it under a magnifying glass - plus I saw all the little tiny light bars that make up the LCD display! Cool!!

still, it's going back - it's right in the middle of the top screen, taunting me everytime I turn it on!
