Hold back for PS3 or get the 360 now

So my friend wants to buy a console so what's worth doing at the present time?

PS3 is going to be expensive and have not that many titles for now and from what I am hearing is fairly hyped. If you know any different then do mention it.

Meh I don't see why anyone whos looked into the PS3 would be excited about it. And if you havn't looked into it before spending £425 on it then you've either got far too much money or a screw lose.

But really, all it depends on are games, if there are games out now that your friend wants then he should get it, as the PS3 won't have a huge selection of titles as it's only just been launched.

EDIT: Should've said will've just been launched.

I would go for a 360 now as it's out, comparatively cheap and there are now loads of excellent games either out for it or coming out before Christmas.
An Atlantean Triumvirate, Ghosts of the Past, The Centre Cannot Hold
The Pillars of Britain, Foundations of the Reich, Cracks in the Pillars.

My books are available here for Amazon Kindle. Feedback always welcome!

With the PS3 not coming out until April you would be made to wait with the amount of great games coming out for the 360 before xmas.

Just check out the Gears of War Trailer, that should make up your mind.

360 my friends got on on launch even thought they were all supposed to be doomed and overheat in seconds his was all fine untill last week when it stopped working, but this was his sisters fault she knocked it over.. He phoned microsoft and they were happy to take it in and fix it.. they were a day overdue on delivering it so he phoned them and they said it will be there the next day: It turned up with 2 games and another controller as a complemetary gift for taking a day longer... Like hell great service
I recommend Xbox 360 all the way or a Wii but not the PS3 they are horrid and a stupid price.

2 games and another controller? That's awesome
Picked mine up in Easter and it survived the trip as checked baggage all the way to Sri Lanka and hasn't been giving any problems tbh.

The 360 has the 'better' line up games coming out but I feel that Nintendo have a 'flair' for creating games that you 'start playing and you put it down a month later' - the gameplay is so great! The Wii hardware isn't cutting edge so I'm expecting the graphics to be 'cube' like (not that they were ever bad!) but the 360 really has the horsepower in comparison.

Tbh they would both balance out nicely and you easily have 5 - 6 months to decide if you *still* want to shell out £500+ (not forgetting the games, spare controller etc) on a PS3!

Personally I'd look at the games your friend wants to play, and how much use he is going to get out of the console? PS3 when first launched is going to have a limited amount of games all of which will be top price.

The xbox 360 is starting to get quite a catalogue including the start of a catalogue of back games which are 25 quid max.

But if your friend wants tekken 6, FF 13, F1, GT 5 etc then he would be best getting a second mortgage or selling some vital body parts to get a PS3.

I can't comment on the PS3 as I've never tried it, but I can only highly recommend the Xbox 360. I picked one up on launch and it's just a fantastic console.

If my 360 breaks I get free repairs because mine was manufactured the day before the cut-off point . Anyway I'd recommend a 306 + Wii (Wii60 ) cos' that will still be cheaper than buying one PS3 at launch. The 360 and Wii have got same great games going for it like Gears of War, Alan Wake, Zelda etc etc.... But then the PS3 has exclusive stuff like Metal Gear and presumably FF XIII so you should let the games be your deciding factor if you want the best bang for your buck.

As much as I'd like it to that won't happen. The devs said they'll release stuff for the 360, but it would be a new IP rather than MGS.
