never played bf2 as was into farcry and the cod's, but have bf2142 and it's all i seem to play at the moment (brought call of juarez couple of days before and haven't touched it since), and a majority of my clan have picked up on it aswell.

took me a little bit to get used to (although if your're used to bf2 shouldn't be a prob), but i think it's worth a spin.............

Personally I love it. Great sequel. Very addictive. Yeah it's not hugely different to BF2, but then again it's a sequel what did you expect?

Yeah EA churn out huge amounts of tripe, but I don't really care so long as this game is fun. which it is.

Oh and btw: BF2142 DOES NOT CONTAIN SPYWARE. Just in case anyone missed that and please don't argue with me unless you actually own the game and can check for yourself, as I've had the same argument about 50 times now Every time with people who don't actually own the game.

If you're a die hard bf2 player it takes a few hours to adjust, at first ~I played it like I played BF2 and got killed constantly. You have to play it like a new game. Most of the old tactics wont work, going prone as soon as you see someone and so on. Which I like tbh, adds more of a challenge.

It has enough new content to be called either a new game or a very good good total modification. It has elements that should have been in BF2.

But it plays quite different to BF2 in many ways. At a very basic level, additional physical actions such as head bobbing have been added and maybe some more precision in general, and it's faster paced. Game types like Titan are very different and need different strategy. Some compare Titan to onslaught in UT. This is not true since it's very different.

Overall, I would say it's the best installation in the series and has more oppertunity for different strategy than BF2. Sound and graphics are better no doubt despite using the BF2 engine.

It's Dice who make the game good not EA.

    So EA still sucks...

I had a funny thing happen in the demo while in one of the mechs. There was a guy on the ground hiding from me. So he ran circles around the building and I was chasing him for about 10 circles. Then I remember the boost key and used that and started going faster... I caught up with him and *squash* lol

I've been playing the franchise since the days of beta battlefield 1942, been in clans etc... and I can tell you that if you like the futuristic feel then it's really the best one to own. Additionally, the atmosphere in the maps like snow and dull clouds really adds to it along with the ambient sounds of a post ice age era

It's fun, after you get used to it, but not worth the cost imo.

Original BF1942 is still my favorite, by far.

If you really crank the graphics it has lovely lighting effects, proper dynamic shadows on everything, affected by the clouds and such.

Just been playing now found a stat padder and in the next round on a different server got accused of being one. Which ended in the accuser being kicked, as he went on to accuse everyone with a better score than him of being a padder Didn't seem to understand if he typed less he would score more.

Lovely little screenie winging it's way to bfroe.com, 2000 points in 30 seconds, now theres a trick.

I don't like stat/unlock systems, at all. Too suceptable to abuse, and interferes with the game, imo. I also dislike needing an account to play online.

Its ok. The unlocks kind of p1ss me off though. You can get the first couple within a couple of hours or so but it does slow down after that. Tends to favour those with lots of spare time who can play day in and day out, not easy when you have a job and family etc! No way is it worth the full price, not even titan mode makes up for that. Not enough variety, the engine is dated and only 10 maps. Buy it cheap if you can. It can be a laugh if you dont take it too seriously and find a decent server.
What we share with everyone is glum, and dark...

I never played BF2 as was a latecomer to Joint Ops at the time, but I'm quite enjoying BF2142. I do find it difficult finding a decent squad to join so am looking to join a clan, the points system is very much biased towards teamwork and I have a few more unlocks I want. It's worth the £25 from play.com anyhow.

@noTHINGface, for quick points without stat padding play on Titan mode as support, defending a corridor or ultimately the reactor core. Should get 50+ per round easily

To be honest, EA shot themselves very hard in the foot after the adware thing was announced because they lost a lot of loyal customers (and I'm sure the person in charge of the idea got a real bollocking). Had they excluded it, I have little doubt that this would have been their best release in the series overall.

Like I said, I only bought the game because of Dice, Sweden. Had anyone else made it I really wouldn't bother with it.
