    Xbox 360 HD-DVD Drive

So, with the release of the HD-DVD drive in just a few days, who's actually going to be buying one/getting it for xmas?
Despite what people say, I do think that Microsoft will release an HDMI cable if all this security lark is enforced so I'm getting one for xmas
EDIT: I found this FAQ for anyone who is interested. It seems quite biased towards HD-DVD (against Blu-Ray) though.

Not for me. My normal DVD player works fine.

Quite tempted on this unit. 129 with an HD-DVD and remote isn't too bad and it'll will open the door to greater definition movies. Have no intention of re-buying DVDs however!

Very, very tempted. I cant justify it while the discs are so pricey though.

Although I'm very happy with my DVD player I am very tempted. The main reason for my temptation is the price, it seems so cheap it's proving hard to resist.

I never had any intention of getting a standalone HD-DVD or Blu Ray player as they're just too expensive, I'd rather wait for the second generation, cheaper players.

But when they announced the HD-DVD addon for £129.99 with King Kong included, that put a right spanner in the works! How can I resist!?

Not to mention I'd love to be watching Superman Returns on HD-DVD around Christmas time.

the blu-ray may already have won ages ago though,

despite at first there was an equal divide between the amount of companies supporting each format, alot of the them jumped ship and now bluray has a lot more support.

It might not matter right at this moment, but its likely that the bluray wll have way more movies/content available...

It just seems such good value when a normal player is ~£500. The price of the movies themselves is reasonable although slightly more expensive than your average DVD and with the bundle of King Kong and the media remote who can resist?

I'm holding out until games actually start coming out on them. (MS say it's video only but I hope that they will get enough interest to add game play from the drive as an option). Blu-Ray is a bit of a sitting duck with Sony's track record. (Who still uses there beta max format? Or Mini Disks? Virtually no one.)

I'm not so sure... Why? Because you can already buy HD-DVDs and have been able to for a while...

But I'm being nagged to get off here and go shopping, so I'll answer this one in more detail later!

Quick update on the HD-DVD drive, it has been confirmed for a December 1st release here in the UK. Some other Xbox 360 accessories have been dated too, all the details are available at Xboxic.

I seem to remember them mentioning something along the lines of Xbox360 games were only going to come on DVD because the HD-DVD drive was an add-on extra rather than a system standard thing.

Whether this will happen or not is another matter. I reckon it won't.
