Achievement withdrawl

Been playing through some older PC games Doom 3 , Half life 2 etc as i have just got a widescreen monitor and keep finding myself being disappointed when " achievement unlocked " doesnt pop up when i complete a level , kill a boss etc anyone else suffer from this ?

I'm not that bothered by achievements so I can't say I suffer much but it would be nice if there was some sort of online achievement tracking for PC games.

I was under the impression that the Games for Windows series will introduce this in future when Live Anywhere kicks off and it all comes together.

i think achievements are an interesting addition to x360 games and it will be great when they are on pc too.

I like the achivement system i think it makes you keep playing well me anyway.

The only problem with them is that some seem impossible to achieve- what you get from them isn't worth the time and you can only get these if you are really obsessed with whatever game it is.
