    Wii Question

Got a question about running 480P on Wii. I have a Samsung HDTV which has the following inputs:

DVI, Audio in, Svideo, Dsub, Scart & composite.

Now obviously I would like to run the Wii in 480p when I get one but as far as I know you can only do that via component cables? I don’t know much about HDTV’s so I’m not sure if that’s correct or not.

So would it be possible to run the Wii in 480p and if so what would I need to do so?

Would something like this do the job?

    Cheers, Ryan

as long as your SCART connector is full RGB-SCART, then it should be fine (on my samsung hdtv, one of my two SCART connectors is, the other isn't)

Cheers for that, it says it's RGB Scart. I'll had to do some digging to find out of it full RGB or not.

apparently bundled cable is S-video scart. Damn cheap scapes.

They sell a composit cable at another £15!

lowest common denominator is required. what if it came with a component cable - most people couldn't use it

true, but its possible to have both on scart (its ONLY redeaming feature, thats what you get when u let the french design something)

However when i said composit, i ment component..... kids don't drink and type.

I'm not that clued on this, but i was wondering if there was actually that much difference in picture quality running progressive scan. That isnt a thinly-veiled sarcastic comment (!!!) but i am looking to buy a Wii in the new year and would like to know if its gonna be worth the extra £££ for the cabling etc.

I am probably gonna run it on my sony 32" tube TV, but would the difference be more noticable if used on a LCD TV, i think it might but nay answers would be good

Looks like with an adaptor i'm going to be able to run 480P just fine

BTW here's a comparison of 480i & 480P on the Wii (takes a while to load)

Thanks for that link - the difference did seem noticeable - but I wonder if that difference will get masked depending on what type of TV you have. Anyway, thanks again for the list.

Yeah - i guess it was like explaining to my dad why sky looked worse when it was hooked up to his new 32" HDTV - better screen shows up flaws in the source more right?
