    No Wii till 2007 - if you haven't pre-ordered

Ouch (http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content...php?aid=21561). Mind you, it's only Currys, PC World and Dixons who are saying this.

Incidentally, I've just phoned gamestation and they've been told that their next batch may well arrive the next day. So, if you've pre-ordered but are not getting it tomorrow it may turn up sooner than you think. Still can't find any accurate figures for how many units are shipping in the UK.

I haven't been keeping myself as up-to-date on said console as I should've been, as I recently purchased a 360 in the heat of the moment and my wanton desire for the Wii has subsided slightly. Am I making this up, or did I hear that the online play feature won't go live till next year?

If so, I'll probably wait till then anyway I only have a certain attention span for SP games unless they really, really engross me and soon end up going for MP-goodness

I work at Currys and preordered months ago. I'm first on our list, and got a letter from head office today saying that I wont be getting one.

Good job I preordered at Game too. I'll be picking mine up from there tomorrow.

Ta! Will probably hold off till next year, probably won't drop much in price, at least any bugs will be sorted hopefully! Did the 720p rumour get quashed?

Yes. It was the case of misprints and wrong information being printed - Nintendo Official Magazine said 720i and 720p instead of 480i and 480p, you would think as them being the "official" magazine they'd double check to make sure they didn't print crap... but no...!

I remember this happening with the N64 release. Not that many were available off the shelves on release. Mind you Nintendo have always been really good with restocking quickly so hopefully everyone wanting one for Christmas should be able to get one. I should imagine some of the smaller independant stores may have stock for the shelves.

Whats the difference between the P and I settings on the HD, I have a HD TV that supports both those. However on the DVD player settings one is on the 50 Hz NTSC and the other on the PAL when looking at the settings.

progressive scan draws an entire image at once - i.e. frame after frame

interlaced scan draws half an image (every other horizontal line), then the other half, essentially halving the framerate and introducing visual artefacts on fas-moving objects

Gamestation seem to have signed agreements with some people, my friend included, that they WILL receive a Wii before christmas. So we shall see at the time whether they pull it off.

I think the availability of limited stocks is being overplayed much as it was with the 360 - last year I was able to walk into GAME on the 21st December and walk out with a Premium!

Nintendo are still confident they'll have shipped over 4 million by the end of the year so I would expect to see a constant supply to stores over the next 3 weeks.

Yep Dixons group don't mean anything, I spoke to Argos today and they are more than confident of getting enough for their customers before Christmas, in fact, shhhh kepp it in the Hexus circle of trust, they are getting a new lot on Sunday morning which you can buy same day.
