ouch, that is something they need to get fixed.
Providing the source is 100% accurate that is!
that was bad sony needs to sort this out quickly!
That is terrible! I'm surprised no one picked this up sooner.
The PS3 Has'nt been released yet right?
So I assume it's a software issue, and most likely one amoung many others to iron out before it's released, this just being near the end of the list?
Or is that vid a ploy to sway all those thinking "shall I wait for a PS3 or just ask for/buy a 360 this xmas?"

I think you're probably right. These guys are saying that Sony aren't fixing the issue, but I can't see where they've got that information from. You'd think that these problems will be ironed out by March.
However, surely it's a simple problem to fix and one that shouldn't have been there from the outset. The backwards compatible Xbox games immediately looked better on the Xbox 360 - straight from launch day (albeit they didn't have many games that were backwards compatible.)

It's quite amazing that this is happening, given that the PS2 hardware is there, inside the flaming PS3. All they have to do is scale up the output... surely one of those Cells can do that, or maybe it's the way the thing is put together.
Erm, not the Xbox titles that supported HD on the orginal Xbox.
Most of the 720p on Xbox games are 480p or upscaled on the Xbox 360. Sure the UK Xbox's have HD output software locked, but a quick softmod will allow even the UK versions to run in HD.
Doesn't stop the PS2 on PS3 looking bad.
Also lets not forget that the 1080i PS2 games may not run either as seen here http://www.geocities.jp/bellinus_crispa/ (3rd way down link below Q:480Pと1080iの違いって?).
i think this is a result of rushing their product.

The current backwards compatibility is just a stop-gap until they have full software PS2 emulation running, which should then make the games much prettier..
bit surprised that they didn't get it looking at least a *little* better than that though..

JN0ot sure about anyone else, but if I'm spending that much on a console, backward compatibility is actually pretty far down the list of things I want. I could live without it until it's fixed I reckon.
Still a shoddy performance from sony.
