Is it worth getting? i really enjoyed flight sim 2002 and 2004, and would like to get it as i have a PC that could run it now also is it worth the £50-60 price for it?
and also, which version should i get?
thanks

I've only tried the demo, but have 2000 pro.
IMO they're not quite there yet - the best thing about FSX for me was the virtual cockpit - for small planes/gliding it really did give me quite a close sensation of the plane's movements compared to gliding for real.
The water is also quite nice, however scenery is still some way off.
i thought that the last two graphics wise were rather poor tbh, so im not too bothered about amazing graphics, but if there better than 2004 i can't lose
I played the demo and thought it was wonderful. I've had the fsim range since the early days and if you enjoy them, then this is a must buy! The graphics are stunning. You just need a good GPU and joystick to get the best out of the game.
How good will my gpu (X1900XT) be with Flight Sim x? Will i be able to almost max the video settings?

Terrain meshes are noticably better than 2004. Textures are improved a bit, mainly in tone, but are still quite naff.. oh exept the planes themselves - I never played 2004 but the planes in FSX are beautiful. Autogen scenery is still absolutely terrible though.
If you don't care about graphics, and are the kind of person who buys each update then yeah, go for it
I've stopped recommending the pro/deluxe versions since after 2000 when they stopped doing handbooks.
i saw someone playing demo on an 2 year old laptop...so yer...it should be ok
cheers for the thread guys, i was also thinking of purchasing it but didnt want to get it if it wasnt any good.
Reckon my X800XT should play this fairly well?

If you can wait for the download I highly suggest trying out the demo.
It's a pretty rough demo, with bugs galore, but should give an indication of the performance (I think the real game is a bit slower than the demo, but it can't be that bad).
ok cheers, i look into that

If it's ok, i'd like to pose another related question. I just got a Saitek Cyborg, and as yet have only played BF2 with it (which is great). I want to get an accurate flight sim, but find ones wihout bombs and fighting a bit dull to be honest... any suggestions? And same for helicopter sim too?
Yup FSX is very demanding on your pc hardware.
Even with a v good system it seems to struggle - shame really as its a good game.
