    Recommend me some games

Well I finally decided to upgrade my computer after 3 years and my new computer arrives next week. You can see the specs in the My System thingy. I have been playing WoW for a long time, but am bored of that now and would like to get back into the FPS scene.

What games would you recommend to have some fun and to show the potential of my new system? Bear in mind that the most recent FPS I have bought is HL2.

    Prey (Albeit very short)
Dark Messiah (provided it doesn't crash is really good)
Condemned Criminal Origins (Once again very short)
FEAR (Preffered this to Half Life 2 to be honest)
Chronicles Of Riddick (Semi shooter / stealth game, excellent allround)
COD2 (Very good start to finish, shame about the way they done the health system on it though. Could have been so much better)
Quake 4 (Excellent blast brought to life by the Doom 3 engine, gets a bit samey towards the end with the 3 virtually identical towers that have to be climbed. Final boss is pretty weird)

Shooters as of late havn't really been the best since HL2 and FEAR. Prey is definately the one that stood out for me out of all the titles that have come out.

    IMO nothings yet topped HL2.

Quake 4 is a good blast, but is nothing like as memorable or replayable.

    HL2: Episode 1
    FEAR
    Prey

Any one of those will give your new system a workout and all 3 are awesome games.

Where can you buy FEAR these days? No one I have checked seems to stock it.

    FEAR, CoD2, CS:S (of course)..

GTR2 on widescreen looks excellent and plays excellent if you have a decent wheel..

Warhammer mark of chaos, excellent as well

Oblivion, not my 100% favorite, but kills time nonetheless..
    Me want Ultrabook

I can thoroughly recommend both Prey and FEAR, both of which I recieved for Christmas to play on my new machine. I'm another ex-WoW addict who has been out of the FPS loop for a good while (save for HL2 and HL2:EP1, also great games).

I personally much preferred Prey as I found FEAR to be a tad repetitive, Prey has some rather creative gameplay mechanics and some great characters/story which are very easy to get into.

I've noticed various people say that Prey was too short but I found its length to be just right for me, FEAR on the otherhand seemed to drag at some points but is nevertheless still an excellant choice.

edit: Gameplay have FEAR in stock for £9.99 and Prey is currently in their sale for £14.99!!

AS everyone has said above, FEAR, Prey, HL2 episode one.

Jaroki has a good spot with Gameplay having FEAR at £9.99 but Play.com are cheaper for Prey, it's £9.99 there.

    Whatever you buy, have fun

Im currently recommending Rainbow Six Vegas for an entertaining shoot 'em up, should play nice on your machine as well.

FEAR: Combat < multiplayer version, brilliant game and i love it. Can't remember where you download it from but you go to the main website sign up and they give you a cd key for it for free. the installers is 1.8GB's i think and is the complete online version.

ie. doesnt need the actual single player game to work. its a completely seperate mod

recently been playing San Andreas that is fun, not an FPS obviously but it makes a nice change
