    Crackdown Demo?

Can anyone confirm that this is available today?

Should have been out an hour ago?

    Edit:

I have been told that the demo is available from a reputable source called "Nick" and it weighs in at over 1gb

Downloading it now also. Size is 1.24Gb which is a bit on the large size, but will hopefully be quite a good demo.

Not heard of this game before the announcement that it would be coming with Halo 3 MP beta access, but the concept sounds quite cool, kind of a cross between City of Heroes and GTA if I read it right. Hopefully it will be a good game, then I'd have a better excuse to get in on the Halo 3 beta.

I've just giving the demo a whirl and to put it bluntly, wow, just wow!

This game is so much fun, there's something about it which makes it feel fantastic and you just want to play and play, and play, and play, and play...! I'm not sure if it's the speed of the action, the feel to the very well done driving, the spectactular shootouts, the lovely graphics or the very good sound, but there's definately something about this game that grabs you. It almost looks like a cartoon, only, not.

Quite strange for me as I usually don't enjoy free roaming games like GTA or Saints Row at all. I'm very impressed with this demo so far and I'm off to go play some more. If you haven't downloaded it yet, get cracking!

Superb, been waiting for this demo ever since the Halo 3 beta news came about. i didn't, as much as I want to, buy a game because of Halo 3, but if it's good, then the beta test will just be a real good bonus!
What are the time constraints in the demo? is it a co-op demo, or multiplayer.
Don't finish work for hours and can't wait to find out. Between this and the GRAW 2 demo supposedly coming out at the end of the month, it'll be a great time for demos! My poor bandwidth's going to struggle

Sorry peeps, I really should have provided some more details rather than just blabbering on like that.

Firstly as Veles pointed out, the demo weighs in at 1.2Gbs and as the demand for it is pretty high, it might not download at full speed. I got it fairly quickly myself but a few friends are still waiting for it.

The demo is timed in a unique manner. Once you reach level 2 in the game (you can level up in various ways) a message appears advising that the demo will last for a further 30 minutes from that point. It took me about 20 minutes to get to level 2 but I was taking my time and exploring everything. The demo is also limited in access to areas on the map, I'm not sure how much you can access yet but when driving in one direction I did end up hitting a red forcefield type wall so it is limited.

In terms of players, you can play the demo in solo mode or you can also play it in co-op. I've only tried the solo mode yet but will be trying co-op shortly once a friend of mine has finished downloading it.

Superb, cheers for the heads-up Parm, sounds like it has the expanse of the saint's row demo, only bigger again. Looking forward it! hopefully, by the time I get in, everyone will have downloaded it already, and it will just zip through

I've just played it on co-op with a friend of mine and it's fab, so much fun! The whole co-op experience is seemless and everything was oh so smooth. Even had my mate jump on top of a car whilst I drove around hehehe. Funniest moment was when he went to get into a car, he was about to drive off when I opened the door, yanked him out and got in myself.

Incidently, we also discovered that even if you don't get to level 2 quickly, the 30 minute timer begins after 30 minutes of play. As a result, the maximum amount of time available for the demo looks to be an hour.

I'm now looking for the cheapest place to pre-order the game. They've got it right with this demo, it's made me want the game.

Had a little bash and it was quite fun, but I didn't manage to get a good feel for the game. The setting was a bit strange IMO, I thought it was meant to be kind of futuristicy, but the city was just a normal one, but with lots of added litter.

I'll have to give it a better go, but so far I think it could turn out pretty good, I see what you mean Parm when you say it's cartoony but not. Everythings got a thin black outlining around it, but apart from that it's like normal graphics. They arn't as OMG 'mazin like Saints Row but I really like the style. It somehow fits in with your guy being able to jump miles and push over trucks.

Yeah downloaded and given it a quick play. not overly impressed so far which is a shame as wouldn't mind the Halo 3 Beta but not going to buy it just for that.

It's interesting you guys should say that, I've just been having a discussion with a bunch of friends who've now played the demo and it's turning out to be a real love/hate thing. There are a handful of us who just love it and find it incredibly fun to play but at the same time there are others who just don't see what we like about it.

Ah well, that's what makes the Live Marketplace demos so useful!

Well I neither love or hate it ATM, it's fun and I like it, but I'm not quite sure about it yet. I think I'd probably get a better impression from the final game myself when it's all (hopefully) explained a little better with a kind of backstory/intro/tutorial thingy. Some of the physics has really impressed me, was driving down the road at high speed in an SUV and someone managed to pop one of my rear tires, unlike other games, it didn't just make the car harder to handle, it actually flipped over and I saw the tire peel off the rim, fantastic stuff.

I think I would like it a bit more if I didn't try to think of it as GTA as a cop, on the surface it's the same but it plays quite differently. You need to approach it with a bit more of an open mind I think.

I had a quick blast last night and found it enjoyable. I'd buy it for £30 (should be around that price from ebay or play asia) but I'll be buying Gears of War and Viva Pinata first.
