    Voice Coms Server Hosting

Any recomendations for either a ventrilo or teamspeak server hosting company in the uk ?

it's onl for about 6 to 8 people at most and we have found limitaions in the use of both skype and the xfire chat and well the quality of voip in the games is poor.

if one of you has sufficient upload speed you could try downloading the teamspeak server from their website and then one of you hosts it and plays aswell.

not sure on hosting companies as i always just use someone elses server

just a shot in the dark but have you tired yahoo messenger's conference feature? It has auto-on voice activation built in as you would want it, and that might help bandwidth, not sure how it works could give it a go

    Just search google for it.
Your probably better off using a US hosting company, as its dirt cheap (only a few dollars a month for that number)

has anyone used VoIP for these sorta things?

Most people have free voip access, or just £5 a year. Conferencing with SIP is hardly low bandwidth granted. But its a more accepted standard!

The probelm is that VoIP is about quality and thus uses a large ammount of upload bw and cpu time that you want for the game....

We did use skype but thanks to the uk limited upload bw on adsl and cable once we got over 3 people in a call the games would lag out, yes the voice quality was nice but the game was not playable.

Xfire is the same, it relies on the hosts upload bw.

This way it's hosted on a dedicated server with no limits on the upload from it.
