for the non-linux users, i shall explain. you know when you first install windows on some random hardware, and you have no graphics drivers? the crappy default driver that can't even run a flash advert properly?
well, that's a few steps more advanced than fbdev
sony's quivering fear at being swamped with million-selling unlicensed games for powerpc-linux means they've locked down the hardware to a silly extent, preventing any access to the graphics chip
thereby rendering the linux capability of the ps3 utterly pointless, and any claims of encouraging homebrew are bull**** (reckon you can go much further than minesweeper without a graphics driver?)
