Not very impressive at all, despite using the latest nvidia beta drivers. Has anyone seen any other tests of Vista?

3fps on Half Life 2? That's shocking.
agh.. it isn't like the 98 to 2000 switch, at least there was a consistent slight performance loss there, this is just bad

Seems to cost you about 10FPS across the board. Anyone else notice the less shocking results were on the second page
90% of this is down to drivers IMO.
even if it is 90% drivers. we really should be past that now, longhorn has been around in one form or another for a good long time and nvidia at least seems to be panicking to catch up

I'm extremely disappointed by nVidia's driver development for Vista; it's ludicrous that we've got to this stage and there's still not a proper Forceware set out for Vista. As far as SLI is concerned, hell, there isn't even a beta, so I'm not surprised that performance is cack.
lol at this test... all of my games are consistent to within a few % in all my games. 3dmark scores are slightly lower but then again my GPU was overclocked when my previous tests were taken.

Why do some sites just seem to constantly bash Vista, spreading FUD. I can vouch for VIsta being the best OS I have ever used. The improvements are obvious as soon as you boot... I can't believe these sites!

it's early days yet guys, it's all drivers, like other have said.
Give it 6 months, performance will be better. At the mo i see no reason to get Vista, but when Crysis is out, that will change.![]()
Take that article with a huge pinch of salt. Firstly the author is clearly biased against Vista - stating how he has had problems with it. Then he is only testing with an Nvidia graphics card - and it is well known that Nvidia doesn't have brilliant drivers yet for vista..which is their own fault.
ATI have had no such problems, their drivers seem fine to me..playing HL2, WoW, CSS & prey with no problems..
Don't discount the OS for gaming, its the drivers that are the issue, and they will be sorted shortly im sure![]()
Windows Vista Gaming Performance - NVIDIA and ATI Compared
Not read it myself yet, but I thought I'd post a link anyway.
interesting article, and it pretty much shows that what I said is correct - that this is nothing more than a driver issue and shouldnt be considered anything different
Its a new OS, and will take time before good, solid drivers are out..too many people are comparing vista like-for-like to XP and expecting everything to be instantly better just because its new, but it doesn't work like that![]()
