    Call of Duty 2 Nightmare

    Hi guys,

I recenty had cause to use microsoft restore and, after doin so, my beloved CoD2 has been running like a sick dog!

It takes around 2 mins to startup and takes ages to load maps.

I've checked everything from spyware, rogue registry entries, to virtual mem and hard-drive performance but everything is okay - except for CoD2! The only thing left is that it's installed on the slave hard-disk! But it ran the same when uninstalled and the installed on the primary C drive... The PC I'm running it on is a Celeron 2.3MHz with 512 ram and an Nvidia 6600.

Does anybody else have this issue and, if so, how'd you sort it out?

    Thanks for any help guys,

    Nimble.

Having only 512 Mb Ram will really be making you suffer a performance loss. Also a Celeron processor isn't exactly great for gaming in general. Finally what type of 6600 card are you using (GT, LE or whatever other variation there are out there).

I would try re installing motherboard drivers and removing / re installing the Nvidia drivers (use Drivercleaner Pro to remove the Nvidia drivers completely, free to download and use. Google is your friend here). I am using the 91.47 driver set on my 6600GT AGP card with no trouble at all so would recommend them. Finally try re installing Direct X 9.

Also make sure that you have the game set to DirectX 8 as using DX9 effects with the setup you have will cause you performance probs. You will find this option in the game under the advanced graphics tab.

Not to thread crap but I didn't think DriverCleaner was free anymore.. though if you hunted well enough

thanks for that guys, managed to get things back to normal by uninstalling CoD2, running registry mechanic, installing the latest nvidia drivers and then reinstalling the game on the C:\ drive...

as always, thanks for your help...
