    PC Must Have Games

Just getting ready to order myself a new gaming rig, been away from PC games for a while now, so what I'm after is the heads up on the latest and greatest games...

Dont mind a bit of a selection, bit of a driving games fan, but like I say, wide selection would be good to get me back into things.

Looking forward to the new c&c when it's ready.

For me I always go for the RPG's :

TES4 : Oblivion and also get the Knights of the Nine Expansion, I have played it for 80 hours and completed the main quest, fighters Guild and Mages Guild stories but still feel I havn't touched the surface. I believe next month we are also going to be graced with a huge expansion in the shape of Shimmering Isles. Well worth every penny getting this one, it draws you in and doesn't let go. Another great thing is that Play have it for a mere £18.

Neverwinter Nights 1 & 2. Both great games in their own right but I do feel that the first one has the edge with the story it has. There are umpteen mods available for the first one also giving you many extra hours play. Second one is great in its own right, the same but different. Visually fantastic as is the sound but it still is a little buggy at the min. Also the mod community havn't done much with the toolset. You can pick a special edition of Neverwinter Nights 2 which includes the first game and its 2 official expansions for about £40. Once agin well worth every penny.

Dungeon Siege 1 & 2. Both great games albeit looking a bit dated now. Both of these you can pick up for next to nothing in the bargain bucket or pre owned section in most games stores now. First one is on the budget label that seels for £5.

Farcry. Virtually everyone knows about this game ! Superb FPS by the team that is bringing us Crysis later this year. Great thing about Farcry is that it runs well and looks great on most systems. You can pick it up for £10 now and you get plenty hours play out of it.

FEAR. (Time to put on Flame retardent suit) I personally felt that FEAR was a superior title to HL2, granted the office block level was a little long but the twists and turns in the story leave you wanting more. However you do need a fair bit of power to run the game in all its glory, if you've got it then the FEAR experience is even better. Regardless it is a great game start to finish.

HL2. As I just mentioned I feel it just missed out in comparison to FEAR. Some of the levels are overly long, especially the hovercraft and the prison. Granted it looks amazing on most systems and does keep you hooked from start to finish. The story was pretty good and some of the locations like Ravenholm were exceptional.

Dark Messiah of M&M. Great game but extremely buggy. The bugs do ruin this game for a lot of people, myself included. However I did stick with it till I got through. Story is pretty average so don't expect to much but the action is thick and fast. Hopefully one day they will get it fixed ! You can also pick it up now pretty cheap and it is worthwhile if you can put up with the bugs. If you do get it go for the patches before even attempting to play.

Painkiller. Yep its pretty old now but still is a great mindless blast. Levels filled with bucketloads of monsters and it looks great to boot. You can pick it up dirt cheap now usually pre owned or in the bargain bin. Make sure to patch it up if you are running new hardware though as it can be a bit buggy with newer stuff without the patches.

Just a few of my favourite games at the min, no doubt that list will change again in the next few weeks depending on my mood !

Ferral, you need to get Gothic 3 - amazing game and worthy hard disk resident if you ever have enough of Oblivion, which is absolutely a must have game, even if you're not a hard core RPGer.

I would say you must at least try:

Obilivion and the knights of the nine add on. I must of played this 260 hours and I'm not bored of it yet.
    Company of Heroes. Groundbreaking RTS.
FEAR. Very good shooter with added creepiness.
Prey. Very original shooter with added organic strangeness.

Yes. It's a brilliant game, who cares how old it is? It still looks pretty good, and it's lots and lots of fun to play.
