Best shipping method to the US

I need to send a small parcel (small enough to fit in an A4 padded envelope), less than 1lb in weight, to the US, but I need it to be trackable, fully insured, quick, and most of all reliable. Ideally, I dont want it to cost a fortune.

Does anyone regularly send stuff to the US? Whats the best service/courier etc?

    Thanks

Airmail to the US is fairly reliable, I've sent a few DVDs there and they arrived fairly consistently within about 3 days. The tracking is a bit of a joke, even if you sent something signed for you won't receive a receipt and the online tracking only covers to the point where it leaves the country.

EDIT: DHL say £29.95 for an A4 packet if you post it from a Staples store

Looks like its going to have to be parcel farce, it says from 21.00 on the website, but thats probably for the envelope.

Never had problems with normal airmail before, and usually gets there within a couple of days.
I've never used it, but if you need to be trackable, have you looked at royalmail Airsure?

    costs £4.20 + airmail cost (£5.33 for 500g)

Claims to be fully trackable, but only gives insurance up to £32 (up to £500 for an extra £1.50 cost)

Assuming you need the extra insurance, thats £11.03 in total, considerably less than those already mentioned.
