my band Escape Fails has entered a competition to get our song featured in the next Burnout game.

If I'd have liked it I'd have voted higher. You don't ask people to vote high as a favour - you ask them to vote if they like it.
Sort of defeats the object of the competition.
Took a while to remember my password. Gave you a 10 its pretty good,bit reminiscent of late 70s punk thrash(when I was a teenager).
ikonia, wasnt really any need for that. Favours can be done as im sure m8s and stuff are voting 10 for their m8s bands.
not my music at all, but i gave it a 10 as i could imagine it in a video to some come cool stunts or tricks of skateboarding /snowboarding like on mtv, if u get me.

the whole point is to rate it in your opinion - not say, not my thing but I voted 10 because you asked me to.

I agree that you don't have to make comments like that, but I sorta agree with ikonia in the sense of I wouldn't vote for something I didn't like.

I just think it would have been better to say something like you didn't feel it was right to vote for favours instead of saying flatout no and that you voted low. Just saying that you didn't like it would suffice.. and maybe some constructive criticism?
I said "no" flat out because I won't vote as a favour.
I did say " I didn't like it so I voted 2"
I didn't feel like critiquing it because I just didn't like it, didn't work for me at all, so there isn't much I can say on it, sometimes you just don't like a bit of music or style of music, as I said, doesn't mean its rubbish, just means I really didn't like it. I did vote higher on another track that I thought wasn't half bad.
I do appriciate what your saying, but there was no offensive words, I didn't say it was crap, or rubbish, I just flat out refused to vote for something in a competition that I didn't like.

Whats the difference between a "post hardcore band" and a "hard rock outfit"?

hmm I think hard rock is well hard rock. Post hardcore, is more like metal \m/ i.e. more aggressive and more screaming?
But wouldn't get too caught up in that, especially if its not your scene!
I thought post hardcore was the more quick tune version of hard rock, eg; the genre that started dropping guitar solos - that sort of thing.

Not that I'm a fan of placing bands into genres or pigeon holes... A bit of diversity is the way to go IMO :) And the 'escape fails' myspace has a bit of radio friendly stuff going on there too...

I did ask a favour, I knew that some people weren't going to like our music, but I just meant to say if you like us, vote 10, if not dont bother
However, if you actually do care about what random band does get a song into the next Burnout, by all means vote as you would.
Ikonia, initially it seemed a bit harsh and maybe spiteful, but fair enough it's hard to get a tone of voice from text, I'm glad you actually did vote for a track you liked.
I was just asking a favour in general, because I knew other bands are doing the same (worse in the fact they actually ask people to vote rival bands low). I didn't think people would care about a single track in Burnout, or even know the competition was going on!!!
So from now on, if you like us, vote, if not, vote fairly.
