Downloaded Loose Change from Google Videos - won't play

    Hello

    I downloaded this:

    http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?...29448192753501

using the download button for windows/mac but the file won't play. It's showing the thumbnail but when I double click Windows Media Player says it can't play the file. It's the same in WinDVD7, Ulead Video Studio 10, etc.

I'm guessing it's a codec problem - is there a way of checking?

I'm running Vista 64 by the way - most expensive downgrade I've ever bought!

    Thanks

If it's Flv format, its a flash movie thing; you'll need the codec for it that's all. Regardless even if it isn't Flv format, sounds like a codec issue anyway.

You'll need google video player to playback files downloaded. http://video.google.com/playerdownload

It's saved it as a .avi.

I take it there's no way to burn this to DVD then? My mum wanted to watch it but her knowledge of the internet is lacking somewhat.

She knows less that John Towt, and he knows nowt about owt.

EDIT: Google video player doesn't work on Vista 64 (according to the installer, but I installed it anyway. It won't open the file because it's an AVI. Google video player will only open GVI and GVP files)

EDIT2: VLC plays the audio, but not the video

EDIT3: I got google video player to open it in the end and it works, but what can I do with it now?

    AVI means nothing.
AVI is a container that can contain just about any format of audio/video - DivX+MP3, xvid+wav etc.
Use GSpot to try to determine what codecs are being used, then you might be able to find out what programs can help you.

How did you manage to download it as AVI format ?

When I try to download it , the file showed up as Gvp format ?

GSpot says it's divx 4 and I have the codec installed. It also says:

    File Length Correct
Compatibility Note: Has Google Data Chunk
    AVI v1.0
    Interleave: 33 ms (1.0 v.frames)
    Audio frames: Aligned on interleaves
    Video: 588 MB (86.70%)
    Audio: 81.8 MB (12.06%)
    AVI Overhead: 8.37 MB (1.23%)

Yeah, shockingly well edited, and shocking amounts of taking facts/quotes out of context to support their "argument".

    Pathetic.
