I get it alot in the bottom of my back. And im only 18. I did a year of removals and since then, i've had problems with alot of things. Shoulder clicks when i do certain things which is quite painful and my joints click alot. Not nice
I've had it in my lower back for the last couple of weeks after a mishap training, making a chiropractor appointment to get it looked at though.
Got a lot of sympathy for those with chronic back trouble after the last fortnight. Training has been....challenging!
I get it in my lower back after a few hours sat in front of the pc sometimes.
Shoulders also click when doing tricep extensions and press-ups...I don't like it, didn't know if it was causing damage so stopped doing tricep extensions.
I used to have really bad pain, mainly in my lower back which did me no favours for sitting, sleeping, or even standing. I had frequent muscle spasms as well and when I had my spine x-rayed, it was a proper mess (not just the lower back, from the base of the spine to the top of my neck!) - misalignment, trapped nerves etc. etc. A few sessions at the Chiropracter sorted it out....but you gotta look after yourself otherwise it just returns.
I took a bad fall this time last year in training and I didn't quite break my fall as I was supposed to. Back to the chiro's.....
Sitting at your desk, especially with a PC can easily give you back pains - very good idea to walk around, take regular breaks etc. etc.
I think it's completely harmless, nothing to worry about. Fluid being squeezed out of the joint or something. Hope so anyway; if I've been writing or something for a while I can click every joint in my hands when clenching a fist, then my wrists, elbow, shoulders and neck on both sides
Zak you know how bad mine was - It was chiro + the finest painkillers I could lay my hands on at the time.
( oddly enough the pain manifested itself mainly in my leg , but the root of the problem was a herniated L4 / L5 disc )
getting a decent office chair was the most important modification to my workplace I've made.
I've got a 40cm rod in my spine if that helps ease your pain. had a twisted spine (upper lumbar scoliosis) when I was 14. No bike riding/contact sports for me baby.
I am enjoying the herman millers at work tbh.
I used to get really bad back aches and if I go a long period without exercise it can bother me but I've found I rarely get any grief since I began regular exercise.
Deadlifts are a great exercise for strengthening the lower back. You basically pick a heavy weight up off the floor. I started off doing it with light weights and after a year or so I've not had any back troubles apart from the odd bout of stiffness from sitting on something without support for a long time.
Having kids messed my back up, I was told that pregnancy had stretched the ligaments in my lower back and pelvis... did have physiotherapy on it, which was lovely for a couple of hours but the pain always came back, can't stand up for too long, just use painkillers and hot a hot water bottle now, thinking of trying a chiropractor.
Exactly!! I started working from home about 2 years ago which was great at first. However, I'd bought myself a £30 office chair and last year I started to get lower back pain after sitting in front of my PC all day, even with regular breaks it was still there by the end of the day.
In the end I sucked it up and bought myself an Aeron(with the Posture Fit option). Yes they're horrendously expensive, but my back has never felt better. I used to REALLY slouch when sitting at a PC(SIT UP STRAIGHT YOU LOT!! ) and I literally can't do that in Aeron because of the posture fit.
I figured that I'd rather spend the money on an ergonomic chair now than on Chiro sessions later on down the road.
chairs are so often forgtten.... which is a shame.
They are also horrifically expensive!
i usually sit straight in a chair. or try to lean back as much as I can to avoid a hunchback. luckily on my pc i got a sofa to sit on :D
Nope no back issues for me. I suppose it's one of those things I'll have to look forward too while I get older along with grey hairs, hearing issues (my hearing is bad atm - must see someone about it) and middle-aged spread :)
I've had lower back pain since I was small from carrying my school books wonky. (Parents, please try and make kids use a proper backpack, it solves a lot of hassle later on!)
I put my 4th Lumbar vertebrae out when I was 18, attempting to put my trousers on after work... (I was a lifeguard - before you get any other thoughts!) That was 4 weeks off work, and 6 weeks after that on half shifts.
Lots of chiropractic treatment later and it's just about manageable, mine (like Mobys') manifests itself as a pain all the way down my left leg, a weird pins and needles pain, along with a sharp one just above my hip.
I also had a car accident (whiplash again, yay!) last year, which messed everything up again and has also given me problems in my neck and shoulders.
I really reccommend a chiropractor, they really are miracle workers! (in my book!)
Occasionally get it when I have to be in contorted positions for extended times - like when I have a difficult patient. Im a dentist.
I used to get crippling pain between my right shoulderblade and spine. Until I figured out that I was sleeping with that arm as a pillow. Stopped sleeping like that and the pain went away.
Wish I'd figured it out before several 24 hour bus journeys which were agony, all because I'd slept that way the night before.
Google "fibromyalgia"
That's me, pain 24/7, back, joints, muscles, bones...
It put me in a wheelchair :(
Still, yer gotta larf aintcha :)
Exactly mate, you have to be happy with your lot. You have a brief spark of consiousness, you get to exist. And regardless of your condition, you'd give anything at all for a few minutes more, yes?
You could also have been French, ginger, or a combination of the 2, and both are incurable.
I have a pain in the back...side... also known as a nagging mother..
Sorry.
i get the odd crack here and there when doing free weights.
I get back pain and a good pull of the skin around my spine soon pops it back, or failing that sit on the end of the bed and twist round and try to lay on your front while your legs are still off the end of the bed.
For the last few years we've been told not to let apprentices (i.e. people under 19 years old) do any lifting at work, because the Company doctor tells us that until the persons growth has stopped, a lot of damage can be caused. If that's true, then removals is probably the worst job a teenager can get.
Sitting up straight gives me tremendous lower back pain. Lifetime desk sloucher, and more than a couple of hours on my bicycle. :)
I do a lot at the gym to keep it strong tho. Helps a lot.
I suffer back pain due to my sporting choices, I also suffer in my left shoulder. Its all intermitant but when I suffer with it - its a lot of pain.
Physio and pain killing all the way, on a rare occasion an injection to relax muscles before I take part.
It normally only effects me during the season and when I'm doing a lot, however it can effect me if I put certain pressure on it (not actual pressure but something that triggers it).
I suffer with fibromyalgia as well. was diagnosed 14 years ago. Im not as bad as you g8ina, but it gives me insufferable migraines on a regular basis and obviously the constant pains in back and neck especially. Over the lat few months it has extended down my right leg.
Just keep on popping the tylex and diclofenac.
I woke up one morning with a hangover and a broken chair a couple of weeks back so I've been suffering with a plastic chair at the moment, the sort you have to sit on at school. It's really been screwing with my lower back. Probably have to power through for the next month until I go home.
I've had Sciatica for some years now due to a herniated disc. I go to a Chiropractor once a month & the treatment helps but the damage has been done. Moral of this story folks? get help when you lift heavy objects at work & keep your back straight , use your legs when lifting heavy objects from the floor.
A good bed which supports your back while sleeping & replacing bed/mattress every 5 years helps too.
I only take diazepam (5mg) when its really bad at work. helps me through the flare ups.
i used to take Amitriptyline to help me sleep but decided it wasnt a road i wanted to go down. Not yet anyway. I weaned myself off that. I bought a tempur pillow and that helps support my neck, whioch helps me sleep.
